Favorite bands

Just for pure conversation purposes, what are your favorite bands/artists you like to listen to and why?
Please, no responding with things like: “Ew, you listen to that band? Really? They suck!” or “My band is better than yours!”

(Handy links included for each)

Sonata Arctica ftw Asterisk!
One of my favorite Underground power metal groups! I love In Black and White, Don’t Say a Word, and The Harvest. Those are my top 3 songs by them.
If you like them you’d probably love Mutiny Within. They’re an all new group and have tons of talent. Here’s a link to their song “Awake”:

Yeah. There’s tons more. Those are just my daily’s. I bet you I’m the only one here who listens to Djent/Grindcore.

Quick glance says Daft Punk is liked quite a bit among Gundam Forums members.

Most like Char as well…must be the masks/helmets.

I too love Daft Punk. They’re not in my daily rotation, though. Daft Punk is special occasion music.

I tend to get more attached to albums than artists, to be honest.

But a few favourites:

Lucinda Williams
Babes in Toyland
Dover
Leona Naess
Andrew WK
The Darkness
Queen
Vocaloids

and ParaPara mix albums for the gym.

Ah, Andrew WK. No matter how sad you are, if you blast Andrew WK and fist pump around your house, you will be the happiest mother fudge-er ever.

Gundam Rock by Andrew WK is wonderful to build to. Haha

I just looked that up. I had not known that Andrew WK did a gundam album. It’s pretty good and definitely a fun album to listen to.

It’s a good mix of the classic gundam music with an Andrew WK twist. Couldn’t help but smile while listening to it. Did you listen to Garma Zabi’s funeral speech?

Yeah, that was pretty intense. All I could think of was Riddie telling Mineva to say “Sig Zeon!” lol

Ahem “Sieg Zeon”. Like Sieg Heil, but less nazi.

ANYWAY, I feel kind of lonely being the only Brutal person on the forums. I know my music is a bit of an acquired taste, and very rare (and I don’t wanna hear it GNZ), but out of curiosity, how many of you have even heard of Djent/Dubstep/Brutecore/Mathcore/Deathcore/etc.core?

I absolutely love Dubstep! But… that’s about it from that list… :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha, at least there’s one other dubber here than the four here in -insert disclosed area-.

One of my friends in the UK showed it to me, so I kind of spread the love. I am pretty much the first advertiser of it here in my area. I can claim that “I found it first” bit.

I have a few bands / groups that like:

Angels and Airwaves
LIGHTS
Assemblage 23
Avril Lavigne
Linkin Park (Their first few albums)
Colony 5
Neuroticfish
Unsun
Within Temptation

but for the most part I <3 movie and Game soundtracks. I have it all from the complete 6 hour score of Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed scores, and movie soundtracks like Inception. When I look in my itunes my top 50 most played songs are almost all game and movie scores =)
