    Re: Squee's Workbench

I was messing with my printer last month and i really knocked everything out of whack. I finally sat down and re-calibrated everything today. Did a test print on something i designed. Still needs work, i think i will have to print with supports next time. I need about 2 more XD

OK I will ask.... what is it for? Looks like either an umbrella for a Gundam or a space jellyfish. I know both are wrong, but that is what I saw when I first looked at it.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I think i need to give it more sections but its something i've wanted to do for awhile now on a kit.

Doing another one today, in ABS instead of pla like this last one. Also trying out vasemode in my printing software, where it's continous, and only one layer thick. It cut print time in half, and it seems to be printing well.

I've wanted to do that with one of my ground Gundam for the longest time.

Yea i was going to do it with my Ez8, but i want it for another kit actually. Either my Helldiver, or my grim rodi.

That would look pretty cool with the helldiver.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

My second attempt didn't work out so well. I tried running it in vasemode, which is continuous rotation, and it started collapsing higher than this. I think i made this version too thin. Trying again with regular passes and higher temp. This one has more sections to look better.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I have two questions. What program are you using and where did you get it?

I'm asking because my sister is getting a 3d printer from one of her friends and she needs a program for it. I'm unsure of what brand the printer is, but I'll find out. If you have any recommendations for programs I'd appreciate it.

I use simplify 3d. Its not free but there are ways around that...

Cura is really good as well. I started using it again. The new update really has some cool features. This one is free.

Version 2 finished. Inside doesn't look near as good as the outside. Going to give it an acetone vapor bath to help smooth it a bit. Maybe some resin sloshed around inside as well. 3 more to go.

That is so cool! I gotta look into one of these 3D printers someday.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I was waiting for paint to dry, and was looking at kits on the shelf. I wanted to do this since the barbatos first did it. I thought all the suits would do it eventually, like with trans-am... boy was i wrong. These are prototypes, I'm doing to recast them in clear resin with maybe casting an led built in so the light travels better.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Thanks! Gotta be meticulous for a glossy finish lol

Started snapping the ZZ Ver Ka tonight. The little Judau figure needed some paint, so i spent a few minutes to give him some color.

Damn, this kit is so nice, the engineering is fantastic!
