    Re: Squee's Workbench

Yea i don't know if I'm going with that. I plan to widen the 4 metal ones and put in bigger ones. I like that look lol

I'm getting close to finishing the mods on the kit, so i am starting to plan out my paintjob. I have never really done real camo so i figure now would be a good time. I was debating which camo to use based on the 2 i circled, but i am leaning towards the one on the right. Also, i have 2 types of snow to use for the base. One from woodland scenics, and one for a more icy look.

Are you planning to use both types of snow?

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Yea. The one on the left is for general snow. The one on the right gives a more melted and/or frosted look. I found an even finer powdered snow in the UK, but for a 1/2 cup full, shipped, its like 30 bucks lol

I think i'm done with the backpack. Its going to be laying against the snow so i didn't want to go crazy. Just a few little bits of detail, and adding some plating to fill in the gaps so that it meshes together better.

Popped a LED in the rifle. Just have to wire up a spot for a switch/battery. I tried in the metal barrel but the contacts kept touching. I might try boring it out again to fit the led, but this is already working nicely.

Have you had a look at the tamyia snow paist, i have not used it myself but has seen some very good results from it? The ligher blue camo is my favorite and nice work on the gun led.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Ah ok. I was going to say that the one on the left looks like ice chips. And that you could probably use it as like a melting effect around the suit itself. Kinda like it's giving off enough heat to melt show around it.

Whatever you do though, build is looking awesome.

Maybe put some heat shrink tubing around the LED to protect it?

Yea there's not enough room in the barrel for the led w/o the heat shrink. I have to re-bore it for the led. Not sure i really want to bother.

I was using tinkercad and found a really cool terrain shape. You can randomly generate a terrain. Did a small sample. My printer doesn't really do curves so well at this little bit of detail, nothing putty wont fix. Its kind of redundant, but still cool, considering math/science is used lol

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I made a little swing for it. Put it on today but i didn't take a picture yet.

One of my favorite parts of a build. Kit is primed and ready for paint!

I did a test spray for the colors i want. For some reason, my intermediate blue looks green. Going to have to mask off around that color and redo it.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Shame that i'm currently stripping it lmao

I masked and redid that blueish green to a darker blue. I didn't like it. I sanded it all down and tried again, but the previous masking edges were still showing through. Easier to just strip it all.

Before i started stripping. That green is just liquid masking tape that was still wet, so i couldn't remove it. The new blue is a bit darker than i'd like. Going to make a new mix to change it up.

I was staring at the coolant tank/hovertruck thing i did, and it just wasn't sitting right. I didn't do any major modifications on it so it felt like it was missing something. So instead of wasting a hovertruck, i made some handles for the tank. This way, theoretically, the suit could have carried it to the site.

Also, i updated my tree. Spent about 20 minutes making this little swing out of magnet wire and a popsicle stick.
