You are right that black pearl looks great. The last thing I did was a very light misting of a clear white pearl when I was done with the paint and decals then I did a top coat. it helped merge the decal lines into the model and made them look like the were part of the paint job, not just warnings randomly put on a suit by a tech.
Yea Normally i spray this particular paint over as thats how its formulated. I did a clear pearl over the white for my KAN. For this though i don't want it more on the darker side. I might actually spray smoke over this to tone it down some more.

The pearl color i've been using is the Mr. Crystal Color Sapphire blue. It changes color depending on whether you spray it over black or white.

Nice! Thanks Squee. My girlfriend wanted to do a pearlecent color on her Unicorn and Banshee and that looks like the style she'd like.

The moonstone pearl is the white one.

    Here's how they look:

0-0 WOW that is cool how the change color so much just by changing the base color. XC02 is really cool. I might have to look into these paints.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Yea they are suggested for over white and black, but i use them over other paints. Gives some nice effects. There's a bunch of pics in this thread where i use em, but F*C#*(* photobucket ruined most of my pic links lol

Here's a great example i did where using them over colors add effects.

    - - - Updated - - -

Its been awhile since i last touched this kit. Its getting nicer weather wise so i wanted to actually paint something that will show some progress.

    - - - Updated - - -

White accents added. I need to touch up a few spots where the camo masking left an edge.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

    Thanks Rock!

Painted most of the frame. Only thing holding up assembling it is some parts i'm chroming/adding some candy to .

    - - - Updated - - -

Finished masking piston parts, i.e. stuff you'll barely see lol

Almost finished. Backpack and weapons still need painting.

    - - - Updated - - -

Almost done! I have to paint the Rifle and tank still. Hopefully tomorrow. I still need to do some touching up on spots then i can do decals, and move onto weathering. I gotta remember to take a photoshoot of the kit before i do some things that will make seeing stuff much harder.

lol had to look at that three times to see how i didnt see it the first time. my eyes snap to the pics then skim over the words barely acknowledging their existence.

Damn that did come out nice! Good masking skills you have there. Do you put the tape on the part and cut around the part, or do you cut the tape and fit it to the part? Sometimes I find it nearly impossible to get a part masked off because the tape gets so small it is hard put on correctly then paint get under the tape and I have to start all over again. Just looking for a better way so I can get crisp lines like that as well.

That blue is incredible! I like it a lot. What color is it? I want to steal that look for a build.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I avoid cutting tape on the part unless i absolutely have to. Too much of a risk the blade slipping and cutting into your paint. Or too much pressure cutting and you cut into the paint. Then your other paint layer can possibly risk etc.

I only use tamiya masking tape. I've always had issues with other kinds. I only used the blue tape to cover larger areas to save on Tamiya.

And be nice to ZAKU he has a hard enough time putting those letters together to make them word things, let alone read them! Poor guy.
