    Re: Squee's Workbench

Yea i'll see if they'll work for what i need. Otherwise i'll make my own like i've done in the past. The foam is just 1 inch (roughly) thick sheet of styrofoam stacked and glued. Then i cut it down to shape with a longer box cutter knife i have Next step is to lay some strips of plaster tape over it. I just want to finalize some of the tree locations first.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Honestly, the GP Nippers i've been using for years are about the same sharpness. They do feel great though, the squeeze tension is great.

I picked up some paper clay today, Going to put that down over this, but first some plaster tape, and making my marks for where the trees will go. Also glued some plaster rocks i made in a rock mold.

I spent tonight cleaning up the ugly mold lines and injection marks on the trees, what a nightmare. Also cutting some and gluing the limbs together to make them look a bit better. Next step, add some putty and priming!

    - - - Updated - - -

Added some paper clay after the plaster dried. Put some saran wrap over it and made some impressions with the model parts.

    Letting it cure now.

Also added some new lines on the shield.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

So i came across a tutorial on making your own trees. Its pretty much the same as how i did it for my RG Zgok dio, but the video suggested flex paste, instead of the putty i was originally using. This way i can still make adjustments to the branches after it dries, with no chance of it cracking off.

I think i need to pick up some 24 or 26 gauge, the little one is 20 and the big one is 28.

I kind of like it more than the plastic ones but i'll have to see how it looks painted and with some additives.

Also, snapped this old, yet awesome, Helldiver kit today at work. It definitely shows its ~27 years of age lol

    - - - Updated - - -

The Helldiver inspired me to bulk up the head, like a dirty scifi head lol I also put everything together to see how it all looks. Surprised it can hold the rifle so well. At some point i need to make some changes to the rifle so its at least somewhat unique than the stock loadout.

I took this antenna from an old mcfarlane toy, like 10 years ago. Its been in my parts drawer and i FINALLY have a use for it lol

During downtime at work, i've been making new trees. Just finished laying down some base black. I really like these more than the old ones i was using. It also means my base will be completely from scratch XD Its a good feeling.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

^Hmm I always loved the design, but i was more inspired by Patlabor Ingrams.

I'm really happy with how the legs are turning out. I need to go over some lines again to clean out some primer, and then some little square notch details. I keep forgetting that i'm doing camouflage on this kit, most of this will be hard to see lmao

Primed it all up real quickly because i was getting tired of seeing the putty marks. Still a ways to go but i am ecstatic with how its turning out!

The federation can choke on it and die, but they SURE know how to throw their wallets(admittedly massive wallets) at the engineers they captured from us. the GM sniper II is one of the very very few feddie MS i legit like.

and damn that Hamma Hamma is YUGE! all dem thrusters need some LED love! although that would be a lot of soldering the results would be awesome.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Do you intend to drill out the small holes in the GMSP2 visor? I think doing so and countersinking some round lens would look killer, maybe even homage to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell!

That emblem on the shield looks horribly thick and bulky. I understand why some of the JP builders have forgone it in a favor of a decal.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Heh, i already did! Not inspired by Tom Clancy though, i actually never played one of those games lol

I added some metal bits for detail. I will most likely be changing these out, as explained later.

This idea i might do, but i kind of like just the 4 "lenses"

After a bunch of sanding sessions, i finally got the visor down to a decent shape. Its much less curved but still enough to be unique. I primed it and noticed that after sanding it all down, there was not only a spot of the 2 part putty that didn't mix in (as seen by that raised part) but one of the holes is misaligned. Going to have to fill that in and carefully drill it out for symmetry.

I don't have an antistatic grass applicator (YET) so i ordered some premade tufts of winter grass. Did some test placements to see how they look.

    - - - Updated - - -

Picked up some 1/4 round trim today, i figure, i should make the bottom of the base look better. I was originally going to put this on a plaque, but i think this will look nice enough.

Also, i took the metal barrel that comes with the HAR rifle to work today. I figure, i have access to a lathe, i should try using it.

I bore out the barrel, now if i decide to add an led, i can use this nicer machined part.

Working on the backpack. Trying to implement the Sniper II's backpack like the GM Sniper does. I figure its going to be laying on its back so its not a big deal. I might change these out but i think it kind of works.
