    Re: Squee's WB

This took way longer than i thought it would. Cut it all out with a dremel and large drill bits. Too much dust. Once the head is fully finished, i'll be backfilling behind the led's to stop that light bleed in the mouth.

I should take a pic of the front. I ended up scribing out the z shape in the eyes and filling it with clear epoxy so the led's are super bright now.

You gonna make a door for that or just putty it up and carve his back out again when the battery needs changing?

Looks like he has a magnet on the back to hold the cape on. So if my guess is right The cape will hide most of not all of that digging. But I have a feeling squee will fill in that trench but leave the battery compartment open.

My only question is, will only 1 magnet hold the cape on securely? I would think another one further down the back spine collum would add a bit more hold than just the one at the top. But I tend to over engineer and over build stuff.

    Re: Squee's WB

Yea the cape comes off via magnet. It completely covers the wiring. There's one smaller pin on the back of the rock base that also catches the bottom of the cape, but it's really not necessary. The magnets i used, they are 1/4 inch deep, so there is a huge pull. I might even remove the bottom pin once i glue the torso to the legs towards the end, it's just holding it in place for now.

Can't see anything. I have to mask the torso to paint the roll of the cape that is there.

Started weathering and toning it down.

Its still a little glossy, but i did a bunch of streaking.

Yep that is looking fantastic. Squee have you ever used oils for weather tones on this like this?

I have but i hate how long it takes for oils to cure. The Mr. weathering are enamels, basically thinned oils. I actually used some vallejo paints to paint some of the little details like the leather straps on the crotch, and the handles wrapping. I have to give them some more layers. Also hit the edges with some enamel chrome to add some extra pop. Currently i'm waiting on some "blood" paint so i can do some blood splatter on it. I'll finish painting when it gets here.

Also, working on the rectioneter's base. I hate handpainting. I realized after i painted that the 2 front corners aren't level, so it looks like the front of the foot is floating.

So now i'm making some stamps out of reusable mold to copy the detail. Then adding plaster and stamping it back.

Currently waiting on the plaster to dry.

That Berserker looks ace Squee. And I don't recognise the parts in the last picture (I'm a noob to the world of Gundam, I only build them, even though I know I'd love the anime series if I could make the time to watch) but the colour looks great, can't wait to see more. Is it colour-shift paint, or mad shading/layering skills?

Thanks! I'm really happy with how the Gutts is coming out. As for the last pic, its a bit of a bad joke, i started this kit 7 years ago. Page 2 of this thread LMAO. Its a shifter paint, that has been nothing but trouble,l but since its almost done i can't switch to something else.

Those purple parts belong to a Five Star Stories kit that Squee has been fighting with for awhile now.

Ha, and I was thinking it was a fan favourite Gundam that everyone should know. I thought me taking over 3 years to finish my Duel was bad

I just went back to have a look it, and that RE Titans you were building on page 2/3 looked ace too with the two-tone blue.

Squee does really nice work. I'm looking forward to seeing the FSS kit finished someday.

Hey Squee what ever happened to the 3D printed parachute?

Its on a shelf somewhere. Have you seen child of mecha's? Makes me rethink how to do a parachute!
