So glad to see people picking up the HS 2.0! I know it's just a fun build, but I still can't wait to see what you do with it.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I will! Its been on my to do list. I need to finish prepping that resin, and do that wiring for my friends, i put those off for too long. I got an idea tonight, i might do a quick paint job on this, Just to do something fun. I figure, since i have the new one, the old one can be beaten up to make some space. I saw a really awesome one awhile back, and really wanted to do one when the new one was announced. That final shot of the HS floating in space at the end.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

lol i had to bug you about it. and yea that sounds like a good plan for your old 1.0. maybe a simple blue or white LED in the cockpit to draw the eye to the fact that its open and no one is in there. and that base and backdrop are nice. you could go as far as re-watching Zeta and seeing exactly where ant at what angle its arms and legs got cut off by Haman and what other damage was done to it to make it perfect.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

Yea i already have the screenshots. I am going to cut some wood down tomorrow to make a nice picture box, so that it's just floating in a black void. I did the damaged arm on my zogok in a few hours, i can probably knock out this build in a short amount of time. Need to look for some decals.

    Re: Squee's Workbench

I took some screenshots and noticed the legs are much shorter. Chopped one in half, and glued some extra parts i had in my parts bin in there. Also made some measurements for the wood backing. I am going to have to make the sides at least 5 inches wide, so that the come out past the kit. Maybe bigger.

I also pulled out the Tamiya Sd.kfz 222 i bought a few years ago. I will be working on this sporadically so i can try entering it at the IPMS show. Something different for once.

Thinking about making it a dilapidated junker, with nature growing on it, like its been abandoned in a forest. Not sure yet, for once, this is pretty much all new territory for me.

I will probably hold off on really working on it until the TGG video call next week, so i can get some great input from those guys. They all have done military vehicles, so i will tap that source for info!

for the Hyaku Shiki's backdrop are you going to paint a space scene on it or get some photo paper and print out a space scene with colors and stuff and glue it to the background? you could even go to a print shop and have a space scene done with a really high quality printer. and cool APC. you could make it look like its driving and shooting with rooster tail and muzzle flash effect parts.

    space2.jpghs.jpg

From the original ending. I'm thiking about painting the lighter "space" background, might attempt to make the earth. Worst case, i'll print it as a decal and apply it.

As for the final look, obviously i'm not going to attempt a completely accurate look. I want some of the binders to remain, and to have the remains of the energy cables.

After like a week soaking, its good enough. I had to lightly sand each part, about half are done. Still have another batch soaking. Might replace the antenna with a metal one, i already broke it. Noted for the future, wait until a part is fully dry before sanding. XD

Yea its just pure plastic with no tint to it. Most likely a cost cutting measure. Why add any color to it if its going to be plated, yanno?

Makes sense. Its kinda cool looking actually. I wonder if the 2.0 is the same.
