Yes they are real, but do they actually work or are they just for props? cause my money says those are props, and the rest is gonna be done in CG, like the Mechs from Avatar...

I think they're props. I don't know, I just found the pictures floating around on the net.

    Re: Patlabor

So it looks like that at the Japan Animator Expo this year, there will a Patlabor short titled Mobile Police Patlabor: Reboot. Here's a sneak peak: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...ctober/.104770.

Man, I would actually like to see a full rebooted TV series of Patlabor. That would be kind of cool.

Did this ever get made? Or was it put in production limbo...

I'm pretty sure this got made. I remember seeing one of the prequel videos online that was supposed to set up for the movie. And since the clip didn't have any subtitles, I lost all interest and lost track of any news regarding this production.

^^ cool thanks. I figured that it probably turned out like the live action Gundam want-a-be movie. That had so much potential... but nope it sucked. I think if they do another they should get someone on the production team who actually watch at least 1 episode of a Gundam show.

    Re: Patlabor

So, remember that Patlabor short I mentioned earlier this year? Well, you can now see it legally, for free, and with subtitles here: https://animatorexpo.com/patlabor-reboot/. Man, I would kill for a reboot of Patlabor set in modern times. That would be awesome.

I've only ever seen the first movie, but I loved it.

But you've got to admit, the animation is pretty amazing. I mean yeah I'm disappointed Unit 1 is not Alphonse, but the spirit and feel of original is best captured here which is more than I can say about WXIII.
