    Re: Marks WIPs

Thanks RPC, I did the vents in my Alclad 50% steel 50% aluminium mix and used some clear blue Acrylic over. there is also a candy blue vent on the back. The rest of the armour is base coat of Tamiya Gunmetal over coated with 50% gloss black 50% gunmetal (or thereabouts, I like to mix as I go and have different shades of colour) working from the edges and leaving some of the underlying gunmetal.

I should have used my prismatic sheet for some of the detail and the eyes. I may do this yet although I don't think I'll get the head apart now, the pegs are very tight. I will definately try this on the Schwalz version.

I messaged one of the decal makers on ebay to see if they would do me some decals for this one and the Schwalz version when I get it. I have used them for Gundam decals in the past and they do a good job.

It's a great effect on the paint Mark, you might want to try Samueldecal on FB.

    Re: Marks WIPs

Thanks Squee. Man it has a high parts count. Each paw is 17 parts, I keep thinking I'm almost done and then cut the next lot of parts out. Lots of spray booth visits which kinda sucks at the moment due to it being in the shed out the back and it's winter.... lol.

The next one with the Gatling gun should be a lot better now I know what to look out for on this one.

Yea i have 2 painted HMM zoids. The gunsniper and the massive Iron Kong. The part count is probably subconsciously why i haven't painted my panzer yet lol

Yes Your Iron Kong is a masterpiece, I haven't seen the Gun Sniper before, looks a good build.

One thing I forgot to mention, I cropped the joint "joiners" for a better term by about 2mm just to be a bit different to slim the legs a bit. I was tempted to go a bit further on the last ones on the sides of the paws but figured it may deviate to far from that Zoids look.

I managed to finish off the back paws tonight and de-nubed and de-ridged the main rear leg armour ready for paint tomorrow if I can get home from work early enough. It's 11:33pm here and I was up at 3:30am and in at work at 4:45. urghhhhhhh.

    - - - Updated - - -

Well I couldn't resist and did some parts counting. Without weapons and not counting polycaps there are 366 parts or thereabouts

Rear legs are progressing. red parts, braided hoses painted and paws completed minus panel wash. Waiting for paint to dry... literally.

I found the Beam Gatling gun set online, but it's a bit pricey so I suspect I will just buy the schwalz version. All the sabers seem to come with plenty of extra weapons, with the exception of the gatling gun.

Gundam planet has that set cheaper. Just in case you still want to buy it.
    https://www.gundamplanet.com/hmm-zoi...tling-set.html

Why is it that they only make the HMM Zoid kits for like a week then stop so if you don't buy the limited supply that they make you end up paying 4 times the list price. The prices on the site you linked are incredibly high! Even by EBay standards. I would love to have a Liger or two the the price of them is just so damn high. Check out Gundam Planet, their prices are less than half of the prices your site had listed.

    Re: Marks WIPs

    Thanks GM .

    Edit:

Bummer, the postage from the US is killer... bumps the price back up to being around the same if not more.

Oh well I'm pretty sure I'll just get the Schwalz version which comes with the Gatling gun, although I am using the left over 4 barrel beam gun from the Tactical arms for the Blue frame that came as unused items with the red frame Astray to scratch build a weapon that will work on the great saber. Bit of a fun scratch build, have to 3D print some underlying basic parts.

The Decals were a no-go for now, there are Decals for other Zoids kits but none that will suit the black armor. Kind of sucks because when I first go the kit there was a set with white decals and a whole heap of numbers and letters so it could be used on any of the sabers. I might remove the poor shoulder one and just use some of the stickers as I already have in places which over painted with clear came up good

Well that blows chunks... Got up at 3:45am so I could go into work early and get home early to finish off some Saber parts painting. Half way home it starts raining, lots, so it's now humid and wet. Guess I'll carry on prepping parts instead

Seeing as you are in Australia (I forgot about that hole shipping to you thing, sorry) why don't you give these guys a ring or email. They could make you the decals you need and the shipping for you would be pennies not dollars, seeing as that they are in Australia as well

    Which guys... lol sorry.

Got the back legs on, just have to do the joiners. I'm sure there is a Zoids term for them.

    Re: Marks WIPs

    Thanks GM

Basic Zoids Saber form completed . Well with the exception of using twin AEZ 20mm Beam cannons on the front underside. One can never have too many beam cannons....

I'll have to hold off on any final coats over the stickers until I work out what I'm doing decal wise. I'll build all the weapons, but I'm kinda liking the sleek bare look. I may fit the surface to surface missile launcher on top of the weapons platform on the back with the big 20mm reaction rifle to the side if I can come up with an adaptor so it doesn't foul the back leg. The Schwalz I'll go all out with the big guns.

Funny, I put it on the ground and all three of my cats went up and sniffed under it's tail. lol.

All in all that's 360+ parts airbrushed to get to this point at around 12 parts a trip to the booth in the shed......... And I still want to do another one.

    - - - Updated - - -

Well this sucks. I am missing the lower half of the main part of the Surface to surface missile launcher. Looks like I'll have to scratch build a part. I suspect one of my cats has taken off with it as I foolishly left the parts out on the desk last night. It may still turn up, but there are so many places for it to be hidden I'm not holding my breath. Anyway for now I'll assemble the sensors and try fit them so the platform becomes the sensor suite.

    Re: Marks WIPs

Thanks RPC, it's not a real difficult part to build from scraps if need be.

I'm going to need to make a glass bed over a mirror for this so the underside reflection can be seen, bit like show cars, a lot of detail under there. Just finished cutting some mirror decal sheet for the weapons sensor windows. will try tint them then overfill with clear parts cement. The pics in my white box with lighting came up ok from my Samsung tab camera. Still can't see the candy red that well so I'll probably set up and get some decent pics with my camera.

Ok. I'm having thoughts about the off white on the claws. Wondering if I should just do them in a blended steel colour, more like the teeth perhaps with the front edges blued. perhaps just a real dullcoat on the white.... I'm open to suggestions?

The basic twin 30mm beam cannon setup with the IR detector on top is complete, minus one sensor suite. Was going to go the usual deep burgundy windows but figured what the heck it's another planet so whos to say the windows can't be reflective green and blue. I'll keep building more of the weapons but I'm still liking minimal for this build.

Ok, started scratch building up a multi barrel beam cannon from left over bits.

Barrels are Blue Frame Astray tactical arms, receiver..ish bit is spare gundam frame head, toying with the threaded part in the middle which is part of a Vape Claxton Coil. Handle pivots and is I assume from a gundam shield, it came with the Amazing Red Warrior. It has a mounting hole that suits the extendable arms on the ARW back pack, so it could be like an oversized beam cannon like the shoulder unit used by Predators. The cage at the back is a Gundam frame Shoulder part also spare in the ARW.

Will detail up with some wire and hit the parts with the Alclads and panel wash. Might put some simple small decals, warning style on it as well
