This is what he is talking about. They make a bunch of other ones as well.

Yes these are those people. They are a test of your attention to detail and they do have a ton of build issues. But I like the one I have, I do agree with squee that most of the other kits are just too busy. Almost like they wanted to over detail them. I got the Tiefsturmer actually by accident, but I still like it. And at the time it was the only way to get the Deep Strike. I would not buy another kit from them, just not worth the price for what you get.

Might I add how hard it is to find someone who sells Mechanicore kits.

B.T.W. the whole parts problem with Mechanicore is a learning curve on not only those who build their kits, but also Mechanicore it's self. In my opinion, Mechanicore might eventually learn a thing or two about QC, akin to how Bandai improved since the 1980 with their model kits. Making progress i suppose. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it doesn't look good.

I don't see anything overtly bad about it. Is there something in particular you're not happy with?

There are many styles of painting models that you can emulate - I like the "shading in crevasses and highlighting corners" process, but more gunpla builders tend to opt for the "shade all edges/ highlight centers" process.

It looks like you've gone with a broader shading style, where you're shading parts as a whole, rather than targeted. Was that what you were going for?

I feel like the paint is coming out rough, and the shading on it is too similar and unnoticeable.

    Re: Vile's Project Room

Quick question. After you hit it with primer, did you sand the primer? I take a 800 to 1500 grit to my primer before painting sometimes. It may be "leveling primer and all that but sometimes the primer can go down and be a bit bumpy from the part it self. I usually do a light sanding of the primer first and it will show me the high and low spots plus it smooths out the little bit of roughness that primer can get sometimes.

Looking at your pictures it looks like it is primer bumps coming through the paint.

    Re: Vile's Project Room

I see what you mean about the roughness. It almost looks like it's not atomizing properly, or that the droplets are partially drying on the way in. Tamiya acrylics can be a little touchy - how far back are you spraying from? I ended up having to get a little closer than I'd expected to get a nice finish.

Are you preshading or post shading?

    Re: Vile's Project Room

Weekend update! I didn't do dick!

That's kind of a lie. Sunday night I put a second layer of gloss coat on the GM. The goal is to decal and panel line tonight and tomorrow.

I snapped my Gyan Krieger together this weekend too, and bought a few things to help.

The GM is just for skirmish games so he won't be getting a premium paint job. I'll do more shading practice on him. The other stuff though is some new additions. Flat coat is flat coat, but Mr Surfscer is something Ive read about but never used. I hope it can help fill in the hairline scratches I tend to have left after sanding. The Tamiya primer doesn't fill them in like the Alclad Microfiller did. I wonder if i need to Airbrush this stuff, as it looks pretty thin, and id so what to thin with. I was kinda hoping to hand brush it to just spot check scratches.

    Gundam Skirmish

That FB group we're both in you'll see people talk about it. We play at Animeggroll.

Did some work last night. Applied a few decals, only had dry transfer fed ones, and used some spare generic ones from a MG zaku sheet. Also did my first panel wash. I'm not a pro but that's why this is a test model.

I know it is a reflection of light, but in the picture that bright white line, and the little highlights in the corner of the visor looks really cool. I you could replicate that it would only add to the build.
