Vallejo Mecha Colors; anyone use them yet???

I just found out about this new line of paint and was wondering if anyone has used them yet and if so what colors did you use and how did they stand up against your prior paints.

    Thank You!!

Vallejo Air have always gummed up my AB. The pigment gets stuck everywhere and is a pain to get out.

I have not had a problem with anything vallejo has out. Vile, did you thin the paints a touch? and what PSI and what size needle are you using? I know a lot of questions but a touch of valljo thinner and retarder might help you out. I always add a few drops to my paint before using it in my AB, and I'm using the "fine detail" needle, and the "regular" needles in a badger AB.

To answer the question of the thread, No I have not used the Mach colors, but I have the line of metallics and if they are anything likt them the paints should be great.

I didn't thin them because it read it was ready to use with an AB and was only to be used via AB. My needle size is..... .65 iirc. It's the stock needle that comes with the Neo CN. Roughly 15 psi.

I just used them for the first time and I quite like them, I really love the range of colors they have. but was getting similar problems as vile here so I'm gonna try some suggestions from gundammonkey.

You do the same thing I do, low PSI. I have even gone down to as low as 8 PSI. I have a digital regulator so I can get exact PIS, no more guessing (Harbor Freight is where I got mine.) Even though they are "made for the AB" they are still a bit thick. and at low PSI they dry out REALLY fast and you get tip dry and it backs up super fast and suddenly you have a clump of crap inside the AB. So I that is why I still thin them out a bit more. I add the retarder to slow the drying time of the paint so it minimizes the tip dry effect. These are acrylic, so you WILL get tip dry not a hole lot you can do a bout that. Just watch the tip of your needle and if you start to get a bit building up just wipe it off with a VERY wet Q-tip, as in I just keep a few in a small bottle of water and just pull one out and wipe the tip off. (Tip) after you wipe the tip give a couple sprays of just air to the side. There will still be water around the tip and you don't want that going onto your work.

P.S> the hole "Only For Use In an Air Brush" is a marketing thing. I have used them for hand painting, they work well for that as well. If you have a very small detail I can just paint it with the Vallejo Air, and do it in thin layers and build it up to what I want. This helps give a bit of shading to the detail because you can still see the base color come thru if you want to.
