    Putty or cement?

Should I use thin cement to hide the seamlines, and then use basic putty to fill in the rest?

That is pretty much what I do. Or you can use Bondo as well.

Depends on the thickness of the seam that you are trying to hide. For thicker gaps I use putty and for thinner gaps I use cement. Tamiya extra thin is what I use because you only need a little.

Cement it and clamp it. Only putty after if there are gaps.
