Re: My first Gunpla : F91

The weathering and the bay look fantastic! I am new to the craft of modelling in general but as I can see you have been building kits for a long time.

Just my thoughts and I would love some input on this. Why do so many people create severally weathered Gundam kits? I am a huge fan of the series and rarely does a Gundam ever go into battle damaged or looking like it is in rough shape. Also they rarely sustain a ton of damage because they are superior to other Mobile Suits in every conceivable way. I think its kinda of silly to make Gundam kits that are extremely weathered or damaged unless it goes along with the theme of your diorama of the Gundam actually being in battle. I think weathering and damaging should belong to the Zakus lol but that is just my opinion.

Again not bashing your work. You are way more experienced than me and it looks great! Personally though if my Gundam had a maintenance bay it would be in pristine condition. I loved the inner frame. That was sick! I want to do something similar to my Gundam Barbatos as time and money allow.

AGundamGuy....0V0 we are watching you. I read that little ZION thing you just wrote about. SEIG ZION!! The Great and Mighty ZAKU is a thing of beauty both in form and function. LOL SIEG ZION!
In all seriousness though I can't answer for Tchukky but I like to make mine a bit more on the realistic side. I was in the USMC and I don't care how nice you keep your equipment, paint chips and dings happen. So that is why I have "Battle Damage" on most of my Gundams. In the shows they are nice and shinny to make it look nice on T.V. but after a suit takes a direct hit from 1,000 grenades, 8 Beam cannons, 1 Bazooka, and maybe a colony falling on it (He He) some paint WILL be chipped, and something will have a ding or a dent on it someplace.

I'm curious on why the tracks below the platform are a rust color. There should be no rust on the rail if the platform is in working order or used frequently.

    Gundam Monkey.

The Zaku's are trash lol. Every Gundam from every series is superior and yes that includes Tequila Gundam. Anyways I was just saying if your Gundam has a bay it shouldnt be super weathered. Just my thoughts tho. I get it if your Gundam kit is being displayed in battle in all but I personally will build my kits to look as close to anime acccurate as possible. Again tho that is just my style. I love seeing the weathering techniques. I just believe it gets taken to far sometimes lol.

Thank you all for your comments.
Regarding gundams and weathering, I do not look at the manga series Gundams at all. So I'm not inspired by history at all ...
Once mounted, the painting is according to my inspiration. For the F91 I had considered a gundam very old and damaged ... For my Sazabi Ver.ka, which is in progress, it will be the opposite. It will be entirely in bright metallic paint without weathering.

Yes quite. When the gundam is finished and stuck on the ramp, I will have some details like cables and steel patina on the rails ...

Actually if you watch the OYW you will notice that the ZAKU is one of the best suit in the story line at the start. It was only after the Fedreration tried to steal ZEONs head scientist that they got even remotely close to the ZAKU. The GM could not hold it's own ageist a ZAKU The Feration finnaly won out by quantity not quality. Think Panzer and Tiger tank versus the shermin. The Panzer and Tiger were far superior to the shermin, but we had more shermans than they had Panzers and tigers.

I really like your weathering, good job mate

Since it's a fictional world, any unlimited possibilities could cause rust and weathering....

Heck this could be something like IBO, the Gundam has not been used for a long time and was in storage. But it was not kept up to well and now they are playing catch up with the PM so even tho it is in use now, it has cosmetic issues. Either way you want to do it is fine. I still think your build and that scratch built hanger are both equally as impressive.
