    Re: RAG-79 Aqua GM 1/144

    Hi all!
Well, I went to the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GUNDAM MODEL COMPETITION (SCGMC) in Fullerton yesterday, and didn't even place....
That's OK. The judging is pretty strict on execution of finishes and mine was definitely lacking.
It was fun anyhow and there is so much talent out there.
A day without meetings, deadlines, house repairs, family entertainment, aircraft.....once a year....I'm good with that.
    Here are some better pics...

You should save this for next year's AX (since you live somewhere near the OC area), not as a competitive build but just to show that there is a Gunpla community out here. Kind of like what Squee did for his custom painted GM that was displayed at NYCC.

    Looking for opinions....

This paint job was a bit rushed. I'm building another to get the paint right. and a lighter weather job.

On another note for the watchers of this thread, is worth it to produce a short run of kits?
As a test, I'm going to put one of these conversion kits up on Ebay next week to see if it will sell.
Not looking to make a profit, just materials and time.

The Shapeways thing is out because they cant do "finished" parts accurately enough.
I had to rework a few things and others needed molding and casting to be useful.

    Thanks for being out there....

Man I can't stand all of these knock off 3rd party Gundam builders.s.....oh wait... Great Job Man I really like it In all seriousness, hope you find an open market for this. You put a ton of labor and work into getting it right.

    Next project

Ha, well maybe if they would make these variants, we wouldn't have to! Then I could sleep.
Not being rushed any longer, I'm making another, in "right off the assembly line" look.
Probably white this time for the lighter blue shade.
Revisiting the clear resin head too.

I think the next project is the MS-14A Desert Gegoog
This would get me closer to completting my Zeon Remnant collection
Except for the Gouf Heavy Arms
    What say you?

That was amazing!! Thanks for sharing.
As i still have to build my first kit, watching someone design their own kit is mind blowing!
It's amazing how far technology has come!

I work in the dental field and we always used to melt and cast metal, now we have it laser sintered! Crazy.

    Awe inspiring build!

    Clear Head piece

    Hi All,
I've redesigned the head and casted out of clear "tinted" resin.
this should make the Rag79 look a little more authentic.

That looks great! The tinted resin is really spot on. I wish more 144 kits actually came with clear parts for lighting.
