    RAG-79 Aqua GM 1/144

This is a WIP of a Rag79 aqua from unicorn. The ones that didn't have much of a chance from the Zeon Remnants.

I still have to grow the backpack and speargun. I'm averaging a part every couple days.

Specs on this suit are dodgy at best. each frame of the movie has a different drawing/ design of the head/ torso etc.

    Anyhow here are some pics.

    more will be posted soon.

    Oh and Hi everyone
This is my first post on ANY Gunpla forum....

I'm using a Formlabs printer, but sending out the final designs to Shapeways.
They have a fantastic material, High Definition Acrylate that beats the pants off the formlabs.
The black heads are from them, grey is from the formlabs.
I'm a product designer by trade. I bought my first Gudam kit in '82 when I was 17...yep, I'm that old.

All parts will be molded resin .
The base kit is the HGUC 1/144 #51 GM Space Command

Now that I have a place to share,
here is the layout of the claw pieces, one launched the other stowed.
They come off the printer in the morning (5.5 hour print)

Seriously. That's what I call knowing people.

What kind of plastic is used for these nice 3D prints? Does it hold the paint well?

Its a UV cured resin. I think once it's fully cured it will hold paint fine.
My parts were still a tad "gummy" when they arrived in the mail. I just soaked them in isopropyl alcohol (70%) for a bit, lightly brushed with a sft bristle paint brush and let them fully cure in the SoCal blazing sun.

Looking forward to seeing this progress! Have you considered modeling conversion bits for variants of other suits as well? You could make a killing on Shapeways I'm sure!
Also, out of curiosity... What program are you using? Is it Blender? Currently I'm using scetchup and I'd like to upgrade programs at some point!
Oh well. What ever happens, happens.

What ever you're looking for, it's always in the last place you look.

ugh I wish I could find someone to print me some stuff lol. Or at least find a way to make a lighter version of this heavy resin gun I have.

No problem, i remember when I first saw the model in the book that I thought it was cool, but wondered if anyone would ever build a conversation like this - you answered my question lol Good luck on the project and I cant wait to see your finished version.

Actually, its a 1/144 scale, based off the HGUC RGM-79C GM Command.

Yea, both volumes of the scratchbuilding manuals really opened my eyes to whats possible and how to accomplish them (although vol 2 is 'better'). I highly recommend them as references.
