    Gobbla's Workshop

Head is ready. This time I tried tamiya spray cans for painting. Just to see how it goes. It’s much quicker than using a brush)) But the smell is poisonous

Next part is ready. The last photo is how it looked before painting and scribing.

Since my last update I bought an airbrush. And a scriber. So this unicorn is under many experiments.
    What do you think, guys?

Got an idea to equip the backpack with 2 “scorpion tales”. Ignore pink color, I will paint it

    Now the leg

I made some scribing for new panel lines and inserted a screw. Wet decals from a third party set.

In the meantime I build this nice RG guy. Now I want to paint it, but keep the original color scheme and test weathering pastel. But this RG has a lot of tiny panel lines that I want to keep and blacken. I wonder if I make a classic painting process with a layer of primer, two layers of paint and a topcoat, these lines can sink in the paint. I’m thinking maybe to make a layer or two of the same color paint without a primer. What do you guys think?

Ooh, I like the unicorn color scheme! Are you spray can, airbrush, or hand painting the Zaku? When I'm hand brushing, prime + base + layer + shade + highlight + top coat doesn't usually come close to clogging the detail lines. I thin it down a bit, but it should be fine to paint it in.

Thanks! I will airbrush. I will try with primer than, hope the lines will remain deep enough for lining them.

Colleagues, I need your advice. I started airbrushing the Zaku with Tamiya flat paint. Looks fabulous, but I will need to apply wet-sliding decals and do some panel lining. I have 2 choices. 1) do that right on the flat paint. But I think that decals will have air bubbles because of the flat paint. 2) to use clear gloss tamiya paint to cover and than apply decals and lining. But gloss cover will kill nice look of the flat paint. What to you guys do in such cases?

I always hit it with a gloss coat for decals, then just use a matte top coat after to seal it in.

Update with Zaku. I decided to paint it in darker, more “military” colors. And used Tamiya pigments for weathering.
