The first was an EVA-01 kit from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Actually, that kit was the first Perfect Grade ever made.

Didn't Hasegawa or Fine Molds already make a really good 1/72 scale Falcon?

Fine Molds did. Its been repackaged by Revell after FM lost the license. It went for about ~$180 but now goes for like 300 minimum on ebay.

I wish i actually liked the Millenium Falcon, always been more of an X Wing guy. This looks like its going to be THE MF to buy.

Seriously. I mean, it's got excellent detail, LED units outside AND inside the ship, and it's massive at 1.7 meters (a little over 5 feet).

Nah, the studio scale was roughly 1/35 scale. That one was about 5 feet. A 1/72 is closer to a foot and a half. Especially if its even a little close to the Fine Molds one. I only add this comment because each company has their own scaling as seen in some of the SW kits that have come out from each in the same scale.

This tan colored model in this pic is the somewhat assembled 1/72 FM kit(revell repackaging).

I just used google translate for that info that says 1.7m. "Selection of 1/72 scale to drop the information volume of "model for photographing 1.7m. It was impossible to reproduce all the information amount unless it was a large size of 482mm in total length."

If you look at the last picture in that link, you see it next to the 1/72 Xwing, which is about 7 inches long.

Ah, see I just assumed so since I can't read Japanese.
