    Tactical Arms II

I wasn't going to bother with the Tactical Arms, but figured I may as well snap something together while I wait for the blue frames to turn up (yes I ended out getting both the second revise and the D).

I really want to get just the standard red frame backpack with the 2 beam sabres but I figure I will either need to get a no grade green/gold frame and steal it with some extra detailing or try build one completely from scratch. Another thought was to get a second red frame (P Bandai) and paint that kit as the Noir version using the strike Noir backpack on that. Anyway decisions for another day.

    .........

Well all finished with the snapping together. I guess that means I'll have to start sanding and look at decals and paint. Lots of nubs to clean up and lots of alclad to mix.

And then all de-nubbed and ready for scrubbing and paint.

The Tactical Arms is a cool looking bit of kit and keep toying with the idea of adding one to my red fame but thinking the slimmed down version red frame it might not look right.

Re: Painted custom MG Astray Red Frame

Personally I'm going to have the red and blue tactical arms as a separate display, well with the red and blue frames but on a stand perhaps. I've been watching a bunch of seed episodes to try and find scenes where the tactical arms are stored. I like the lines of the Astray without it to be honest for the very reason you raise RPC. Cool piece, but difficult to display with the Gundam unless it's on a stand in flight. That's why I really want to find/scratch build the standard backpack.

How's the progress going with the big red guy?

Re: Painted custom MG Astray Red Frame

If my memory serves me right the Astray Tactical arms was not in the Seed anime, but it was in the Manga. That is where they get all the add ons from. The astray is not in "Seed" or "Seed destiny" very much. That show was all about the Strike Gundam, the Astray made a small appearance at the end of Destiny, but it is mostly done in the manga form.

M1 Astrays show up in the anime, but I don't recall any of the 'color' Frames showing up even as cameos. There were two shorts that off the units.

That is the MSV, The astray was not in SEED or Seed Destiny. Well it was in the very last episode of destiny but not a main suit in the show. The Red Frame MSV was its own show based off of the manga of the same name. Two very different shows, same time but more of a side story.

    backpacks

Well another option is to get the Effectswings MG Astray Gundam Red Dragon Back Pack as in the offshoot MSV.

    http://www.gundammodelcenter.com/gun...gundam-mg-pack

Bit pricey but it would solve my dilemma and at least give me a mobile suit/arms combo that was published in one form.

In the meantime lots of parts to scrub and prep for paint.

Well the weather was a bit nicer so I got around to doing some of the painting. Now i just need to hand touch up and line the parts and apply some Decals.

    - - - Updated - - -

ok, as I assemble this I'm starting to think that as it will never be fitted to the red frame I may just leave it all shiny and clean on the inner metal parts and only blend and panel line the white flat parts. it looks too nice to muck around with. The pics are from my tab so they don't d it justice. And both Blue Frames are almost here.

    - - - Updated - - -

a bit more assembly... I's not as dark as it looks in the pics. I need to get my camera out instead of using the Tab camera

    OK... opinions please.

Do I go candy blended red on the remaining red parts that make up the Tactical Arms Sword, or do I go blended solid red like the middle piece?

Also I'm going to lightly clear blue the end of the beam rifle to add some past heat depth to the colour.

    What do we think?

Re: Painted custom MG Astray Red Frame

IF you are talking about the sword parts, I would kind of do both. Go with the solid red on the insides and a darker candy red towards the edges. That might help how the parts of the sword that is actually used and is harder than the inner parts.

    Tactical Arms Paint

Thanks GM. I ended out doing a blend of all but more from end to end.

I'm off work with a stuffed ankle so I'm just pottering various bits. My Blue frame and black saber zoid got as far as the front door, but because i couldn't walk fast enough the delivery dude left before I got to the door ...... I called out to him. mehhhhhh contractors.

Its 5:05pm here...... 25 minutes to wait till I can send the beloved to the post office to get the package that I missed this morning.... Hmmmmm, this will be interesting seeing as the beloved one was expecting me to get "just a small thing that was fairly cheap" Obviously the box will have a ton of packing in it

I just realized the red frame is still not complete. I still have to get the Red Dragon Backpack, Beam Rifle and standard shield and beam sabre backpack. Worlds longest Gunpla build......

Started Painting the stand. will need to come up with something that fills the extra hole and acts as a rack for the second sword and any other bits I come up with.
