Progress marching on...painting is in progress and like 75% complete I'd say. Here are a couple WIP shots of backpack modifications, and the weapon I've been building for the Zaku:

Yay...A ship sized flame thrower! Because nothing says "I want to set those people on fire over there, but I don't want to get up."
"Pssssssst...Hey you...yeah you...No, THE OTHER you, yeah, YOU, see that person sitting next to you...yeah, that one right there, light them on fire."

    "Cover me, I'm going stupid."

"I've seen Hockey games where boxing breaks out, I want to go to a boxing match and watch Hockey break out."

I kinda wonder how practical it would be. I guess if the fuel was something flat could bur through Gundam metal it would be useful.

Sometimes you just need to barbecue someone.

Well, with the back story of the kit in question, plus the fact that its set in the Build Fighters universe, its more practical than it would be otherwise. Keep an eye out for the finished product I'm (hopefully) posting next week in my other thread for the explanation of that one.

Well, moving into the final phases now. Got the kit glossed, just waiting for it to cure for a while before panel lining and finalizing with a dull coat. Hoping that I'll get things completed either tomorrow or Monday.

For now, here's a wide shot of the finished colors, and the colors for the flamethrower, before I glossed them:

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Moving on from the Zaku Firebat, I did a couple of quick snap builds of the Space Jahannam Klim Nick Use and the old HG Gouf Flight Type. It's rather amazing how both of these kits felt rather similar while I built them; certain little things really did make that G-Reco kit feel like an older style high grade. Still, I love how it looks when its posed like that, and how the head looks overall; makes me think of Doom Guy. The Gouf Flight Type also looks pretty good despite its age and lack of any torso articulation at all. I'm probably going to use both of these, or at least the Gouf, as a practice ground for cleaning up a kit, adding custom details, and testing out some airbrushing with the cheap little airbrush kit I picked up last week.

And, even more exciting, I've started working on my first Master Grade kit, the Zeta 2.0. I'll probably never transform it, but I'm loving the experience so far. Can't wait to get this one finished!

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. At least, that's what I keep telling myself with all my modeling supplies...

It was actually fairly easy to build, all things considered. That cooling shroud was the hardest part, what with having to drill each hole in the right alignment and carve out the bottom just enough to fit the actual nozzle piece inside.

This has been a pleasant experience, I gotta say. My first MG kit, probably not the best choice for one, but dang if I didn't want it when I saw it in the store last year. The build has been such a fun experience, though, just seeing all the little parts that work together compared to an HG is so much fun. Got the main MS and stand finished now, just gotta finish up with the wings and tail and the weapons next, but this is it for tonight. Once I'm done with panel lining this one, I'm moving on to some serious airbrush practice. Got a cheap start set that I've as of yet not managed to try out (thanks spring...just had to get all that lovely plant life growing, didn't you?), but I'm off work next week, so its looking good.

Thanks! Check out the finished work over on my other thread if you want to see how it turned out in the end!

Just be careful as it is back heavy once you add on the wing binders and tail.

I figured that'd be the case; usually is with those fancy packs. Just have to balance it out with those big guns, eh?

Thanks! Maybe not this Zaku, but I've got several others that I might try that with one of these days.

You'll want to achieve balance by shifting the weight forward as it will also be top heavy. You can accomplish this by shifting the legs backwards and the waist forward.

    Cool, thanks for the tips!

Whew, finally got this guy completely snapped up! Pretty excited to to get to play around with it and do some posing on a MG scale. Definitely some annoying nub marks on the darker parts, so I'm probably going to be painting this one eventually. Still, pretty awesome! And the size of those guns!

Making progress on the backlog now that the Firebat's done. Snapped these up yesterday and today. Probably gonna be doing at least a little painting on the Zaku Warrior, likely the big gun and the pack, then considering a full paint job on the heavily armed Geirail. I just can't like that little axe it came with...looks too goofy. Speaking of the Geirail, really impressed with that articulation and balance it's displaying. Got a bit annoyed at it when I had some trouble getting the armor plates secured to the part that holds the shoulder ball joint; just could not get those things to slide in correctly at all for the longest time, and one of the little clips is still not seated right, but its holding tight, so, eh, whatever.
