    Re: Urban's WIPs

Haven't done much here this week Gunpla-wise, but I did manage to practice some scratch-building and modification tonight. What's the white box gonna be? I'm not entirely sure, but probably a missile pod or an ammo box. And that thing on the Graze's arm? It's a make-shift shield pieced together with the two other thruster panels that I didn't use, cause I just didn't care for the look of them on the back skirt. Used everything that composed that section minus the thruster bells and central connector pieces. The grip and support near the elbow are just pieces of the tree from the kit.

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. At least, that's what I keep telling myself with all my modeling supplies...

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Whew, busy, busy, busy. But, I do have some stuff to show for it.

Don't really know what I'm doing with that shield, but it's changed a lot now. Basically I'm thinking its scrapped armor shards welded on top of the original in some attempt at a design (or a way to get rid of scrap plastic bits...). Also, getting the SD Zaku II ready for some priming and painting.

Next, I finished the build on the Guntank, and have it up on my shelf with the big 3 from the original:

And a shot of my growing selection of Zakus, having added the Shin Matsunaga custom to the mix; still got the Zaku Amazing and two Origin Zakus to add to the lot when I get them built (at least one of the Origin Zakus is getting a custom paint job):

And finally, a build I really enjoyed, the Qubeley Revive. This kit went together so easily, and looks freaking awesome. Needs some effects for the funnels...I've got an idea I'm gonna try, but I'm not sure how well it's going to work. We'll see soon enough. Better pics coming when I get around to it.

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. At least, that's what I keep telling myself with all my modeling supplies...

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Been away from the WIPs for a bit, though I've been slowly making progress on customizing some Zakus. Painting has always been my weak point, so I've been hesitating a bit, but then again, if I don't practice, then I'm not gonna get any better. So, here's a bit of practice on the primed up SD Zaku's weapons for now. Gonna work on enhancing the details and fixing some mistakes. Already got some practice mixing paint to make that orange color, which turned out pretty nice. Standing behind is Char's Zaku from Origins sporting a modified pair of pistols from the K9 Dog Pack.

In other in progress news, I built the Graze a while back, but just built the Barbatos this past weekend. I am starting to really love these IBO kits, especially because the Barbatos can actually pull off a pose like that. I plan on detail painting the Barbatos soon, and I'm thinking of a custom paint job for the entire Graze; gotta do something to make those heels pop, ya know?

Finally pushing forward on my SD Zaku paint job (painting by hand) now that things have started stabilizing at work and here at home. Plus its getting dark at like 5:30 now, so yeah, I got more time. So far, I've not screwed up horribly! Also have a 1/144 Gundam Virtue built, just have to do the panel lining and some modification on the beam cannon to help with some looseness and wiggle on the yellow sliding parts.

Finished up a trio of kit builds last night, the Hi-Zack plus these two. Had a silly idea pop into my head and figured what the heck, needed to do some posing practice, so I suppose...

True, but at least that pole can be used to crush another Gundam....the normal pole is just there and boring.

It's all about the crushing power, after all.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Work is mercifully slow on calls during most holidays, so I was able to get this built today; it's the 1/144 HG 0 Gundam, roll out colors version. It's pretty much finished at this point, just need to touch up some panel lining when i get a chance at home.

The Wall O' Gundam remains a work in progress, with several new additions to the shelf. Some of these I have plans on doing some painting and further detailing, others are in a completed state. Newest additions include the Nobel, GN Archer, Hi-Zack, and the 0 Gundam. Shelves are starting to get a bit full, and I still have quite a few left to build...

Thanks! I gotta say, I was pretty impressed with the 0 Gundam. For such a simple build, its rather posable and looks pretty awesome. I found myself loving the look of its shield quite a bit.

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Just finished up my latest straight build; just have to do some panel lining to finish this one up, maybe glue a few parts that don't seem to want to go together quite so well.

The most badass suit from Seed Destiny...

...or at least the one with the pilot that annoyed me the least...cause he was an unvoiced mook if I remember correctly...

Had a nice quite evening, decided to watch some Christmas movies (Lethal Weapon, Die Hard), and do some work on my friend's Zaku II. I'd been debating how exactly I was going to handle creating holsters for the pistols, and I think I've come up with a nice design. It's a bit on the bulky side, and could probably pass for a backpack unit, but seems to fit on the back skirt pretty well. And who knows, could have all kinds of different tricks hidden in something like that. Still have some more work to do on it in terms of adding details, but the main construction is finished. I think my favorite thing about the design is just how snug the pistols are in there; it's almost like it was made for them, lol.

That whole pistol holster is scratch built? Where did the pistols come from?

    Looks really good.

Yeah, built it last night from several different types of plastic sheets, strips, and rods. The pistols are the ones from the GM Sniper K-9 Dog Pack, with the boxes cut off of the front end to make them look more like normal handguns.

    Thanks!

Still in the scratch-building mood, decided to modify my GM Custom's rifle a bit to make it look more impressive than that little assault rifle it started out as.

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Ugh, after that incredibly long and busy holiday season, I finally get a night to sit down and build again! Just finished snapping up one of my RX-79 [G]s. Got another one of these and the Ex-8 to build, probably gonna do some customization and/or kit bashing on them. We'll see how that goes when it finally happens. Also just got my panel line washes in, so I can progress on those Zakus I've still got laying around.
