    Re: Urban's WIPs

More playing around with the HG Lupus. I'm digging this look. Only had a couple hours to mess around with it tonight, so I'm not entirely finished with the mods; gotta do a little more work on the new shoulder armor, and possibly some shoring up on the new backpack additions.

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. At least, that's what I keep telling myself with all my modeling supplies...

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Doing some detail-up work on the HG Lupus this evening. Been busy with work and other things in life lately, so progress has been slow. Still, good amount of work done tonight. Some touch up and more panel lining is needed, hopefully get it done tomorrow.

Probably gonna try to focus on doing some painting practice on some other kits, but these are the latest snap builds that I'm going to do stuff to eventually. That old "HG" Rising Gundam is going to need a lot of work...so many seam lines!.

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Been working on this one for a few weeks now; hoping to get started on painting this evening; it's just such a hassle clearing the work area to setup my spray booth that I've been putting it off. The shoulder cannon's looking a bit more refined after some touch up, but I haven't taken any pics of the changes due to life being busy.

I like the twin barrel machine gun you made.
I feel you with the whole setting up to paint. I have a booth semi permanently set up, but clearing the space around the bench to actually use it is another question. LOL

Thanks; wanted something a little more deadly in a up close and personal kind of situation.

In my case my booth has to go right on top of my cutting mat, so yeah, it's annoying, lol. I keep trying to think of a way to change the layout in my room to accommodate a more permanent spot, but it's just not possible without some reality warping, and that's expensive, lol.

    Re: Urban's WIPs

Well, right at the finish line and took a hard stumble. Guess this is what I get for trying to clear coat living in a jungle...

Everything looked good before, but now about all I got to show for it is a decent head. Suppose I'll be trying to strip off the clear, and probably the paint with it, and starting over at some point. Eh, live and learn, I suppose.

Actually I really like the way it made that shoulder shield turn out. That looks cool!Same with the arms. The muted purple looks like burnt metal. I kind of like the over all look of the muted foggy coating it has. at least on the black parts. The back pack you could just do a bit of touch up with oils and dry brushing to accent the different parts on it, but I think it could look cool.
The Machine gun....not so much. He needs help. and the piping I would just go over dry brush or something with aluminum and brass.

But then again it might not look as cool in RL, but in this picture I would work with it. Especially that head, shield, and arms......and legs.

Odd question. Could you get a picture of the section of you room that you use for building. I could let my engineering mind think of something. Sometimes all it takes is another set of eyes. And do you have access to a work shop for wood working? Most of my ideas are "How to make that" I built my work station. In fact I'm getting ready to rebuild it again. I like it but I want to change a few things to make it more accessible for everything.

I guess the old saying is true, the bigger the space you have, the more you fill it up.

Here's some more shots of it after I snapped it up this morning. Definitely needs work, lol.

As far as my work area/room...there literally isn't any room. I have a single path from the door to my bench, which is a fold up table sitting directly against my bed and my computer desk. Bookshelves behind me, storage chest, then the gunpla stack and then the closet, which is full of other stuff (mostly my ammo stores...). I will literally have to get rid of furniture and stuff to make room, lol.
