What, you've never seen the key to the Fortress of Solitude?? :P yeah, I'm totally happy with the scaling, it certainly doesn't bother me. Plus, while many buildings have common floor heights, they can vary even in the same city. I'm just glad they're so cheap! I may get some more Tomytec stuff just to have more than just flat boxes, though.

Well it really depends on what era you're talking about. But the key is always right out front under a welcome mat! But then it is made out of the core of a dead star so the mass and weight of the key is a few hundred TONS! But the most resent Key is a normal size key, it just weights in at a few hundred tons. Have fun picking it up.

Thanks! I have a few new ones coming down the pipe, kits and parts, but in the meantime I'm developing a massive kit for 1/400 Gundam Collection folks: a Big Tray! Problem is that it's so big that it's prohibitively expensive through Shapeways. So, instead, I'm running a pre-order on that Facebook group. If enough people are in, I'll just get a 3D printer and do it myself LOL

Ohhh I tried the Acetone Vapour bath bit on a Printed bust for a RC WW2 Pilot Bust (90mm across the shoulders). Worked awesomely. Anyone 3D printing ABS should give it a try.....

Thanks! I'm also doing a 0079 version, and it's making me realize I need to do some rework on the 08th version.... I've been hoping to mainly print in PLA, just due to the ease of printing, but we'll see how the first printed one comes out. If the layer lines are too bad at 0.08mm, then I'll have to make it work on ABS.

I use a Makerbot II at work for prototyping work stuff and the occasional "alignment print". I really must get my own. I work with Creo Parametric for Mechanical design.

More 40k nonsense! The Redemptor Dreadnought is about 2x the height of a Primaris Intercessor. The Psycho Gundams were about 2x the height of Gundams. It seemed appropriate...



Still painting, obviously, but the only real modification was sticking the heads on top. Damn near shattered the Mk I head trimming to fit, I'll need to do some more putty work apparently. Still, I'm amused at least.




In actual gunpla, I'm working out some of my deeper backlog! RX-77-4, Guncannon II, 80's era 1/144 MSV. It's a late reprint, you can tell by the flashing. Since the molds are so worn, they don't meet well at the edges. Still, the model itself is still pretty crisp asides from that.

So it's been a minute since I checked in, I've made some progress!






Brush painted, as usual. A little shading cleanup then on to highlighting! Whether to weather or not, though....

WIP Vintage 1/144 RX-77-4 Guncannon II, 95% there. Shading and highlights in, main assembly completed, gloss spot applied for decal areas. Just a few decals, then rematting and it'll be done. I thought about basing it, and I still might, but it's passibly poseable as is. Might grind out some of the hip armor to let it splay more, we'll see.

For a kit from 1984, I didn't need to glue everything, which was neat. The shoulders, head, and hips aren't, which made painting easier, and the hip joint itself is just press fit (in case I decide to do the skirt armor cutting later).

The kit didn't come with a beam rifle, so I salvaged a blocky one from my bits box. Doesn't look too modern, and the handle fits in the fist even!

After my last few games of 40k, I decided my all Primaris force needed better movement options, and that coupled with learning about the Dark Angels' variety of stratagems that appealed to me, it was settled. First step, get land speeders. Second step, start converting lol All the wing and tail bits are from Stormraven tail booms, while the heads and shoulders are from my 3d printed stash. Hopefully the core fighter/booster vibes will come through better once they're painted.
