Mechanicore's Tief Sturmer (AKA Deep Striker)

    Finally got this yesterday.

    Introduction video:

Some photos of the runners, for those who may be interested to seeing.

Video of everything inside the box, except the premium bonus poster which is basically the cover but twice the size of box.

    Hope to start tonight!

    About time with some update!

After 8+ hours (not a typo), from cutting the parts off the runner till test fitting, shave/sand/file, repeat for what was like a million times, I was finally able to not even finish the first 2 steps to put the head together, mostly because of molding issues.

I'll explain more in my video (I love doing those with the iMovie app).

    Initial test fit:

    Multiple sanding/filing/test fittings later:

The head is not even finished yet but at least the fitting looks a lot better. Glue will still be needed to close the gaps.

    Whoa whoa whoa...

Back the Gunpla truck up here.

It took you 8+ hours to get the head to fit together properly?! It'd take a year to build the whole kit at that rate.

Typical third party kits. Smell of Elyn Hobby all over again, lol.

Most of he 8 hours were trying to figure out where to cut/sand/file and at which angle to do so without overdoing it.

    Wow. Just wow.

I still can't understand why there was never an official kit release for this (to the best of my knowledge).

Re: Mechanicore's Tief Sturmer (AKA Deep Striker)

I've seen assembled versions of the 1/144 kit, and they look okay with some minor imperfections, but this is the first I have seen of the 1/100 kit. What a shame to have such an extensive build challenged with manufacturing burps. I, too, don't know why there was never a release of this kit from Bandai, but it may have to do with cost, or the fact that an astute modeler should know how to get most of the parts with off the shelf kits? Even I am willing to admit if I had a choice between getting a Deep Striker vs a Meteor Unit, that I would go with the Deep Striker. I am curious to see how this 1/100 kit pans out, though. Wish I knew where to get the 1/144 kit at a good price.

Yeah, I've seen the ACE kit, but never any cheaper than $120 or so.

Mechanicore's Tief Sturmer (AKA Deep Striker)

I think for a 1/144 deep striker from bandai will probably cost $150 - $200 range before shipping. Not sure if there's a market at that price. Although, I'll be interested if they ever made one.

Re: Mechanicore's Tief Sturmer (AKA Deep Striker)

I would think $150 would be a bit high on the price side, but I would bite if they did it with a great color scheme, especially if they included a "mini-episode CD" with the Gundam since it is a game only mecha right now. Bandai already has the molds for most of the kit with S-Gundam and EX-S Gundam, so production costs only would get larger for the "new" parts. The tanks seem like they're on the Unicorn Gundam, so it's just down to the bits on the front and the gun. It's a busy model, but I like how the Deep Striker is more "stuff strapped to a Gundam" than "a Gundam strapped to stuff." That is what I like about it. I kinda even like it a little more than a Dendrobium, which I would like to own someday.

And my fears have been confirmed. I knew this kit was too good to be true. Is it me, or does the face plate look... off? Anyway, I wish you nothing but the best of luck with this.

Off what? Off center? Off design? The design is suppose to be different than that of the deep striker Gundam.

I am interested to see you get farther into the build. Maybe set the head aside and work on it from time to time?

As far as off, it does look like the head sits to the left of the post you have installed as a neck. In regards to the mask and helmet, the face looks symmetrical to me.
