Re: How to: stripping paint off of models

    Bumping an old thread

What are the other methods out there to strip chrome plating off parts? I dumped a whole runner of chrome parts in some Formula 88 degreaser on Saturday night. Went to check on it yesterday and nothing, chrome still on all the parts. Am I doing something wrong?

Purple Power can't beat the drum for this stuff enough. Works like magic

Cut off a couple test parts from the runner, and try this.
Put one part in a tub with just purple power. (Love that stuff)
and another in a tub with a mix of purple power and 91% alcohol.
Or Simple green with and without alcohol. One of those will strip the chrome plating off.

Just be careful with the plastic and alcohol some plastics don't like it and can get brittle. So use a test piece first.

To error is human, to forgive is divine, Luckily I'm neither of these things!
