Twitch's Mobile Suit Development Facility (aka "WIP Thread")

My first ever Gunpla came in the mail yesterday, so now I get to start my very own WIP Thread! This is all so exciting! It will mainly be a straight out-of-box build, with the only detailing being panel lines and painting red where the two stickers would go (overall I am not a huge fan of stickers, but for some things they are okay).

I hope to get started on this soon!

You picked a great kit to start with. I watched the 08th MS Team again not long ago and got the urge to buy that exact kit. Can't wait to see some WIP pics of it.

I do not expect this to be a spectacular build, but I wanted to do something different from a Zaku/RX-78-2 for a first Gunpla.

As soon as I get the supplies I need (sandpaper, hobby knife, paint, etc.) I will begin work on this.

This is a great kit. I have it and it went together really easy and is a great build. This should be the next RG, that would just be assume! I will watch this build, I like first time kits. After a few dozen more you can look back and see just how far you have come.

I went out and picked up some Gunpla supplies today. The only thing that I am waiting on to come in the mail are some ultra-fine tipped permanent markers for panel lining. Where I live some things are not stocked frequently or at all, so I have to order them online. A variety pack of ultra-fine permanent markers just happens to be one of those items. Regardless, I hope to get started this week.

Is that... a Lego Emerald Night train I see in the background? Those are hard to find! How did you get one?

I bought it back in 2011, it actually got me out my LEGO Dark Ages. I have since modified it to run better and have more coaches. You can check out my LEGO work here:

cool lego train. and instead of permanent markers id suggest some black or grey paint thinned down really well and do a wash. marker tend to fade really quick. the black ones turn purple over time to.

    Zaku on kova luu.

For my first kit I am just going to keep it simple. My next kit I will definitely be experimenting with more advanced techniques, and a panel line wash will be one of them.

    Those are beautiful. A 4-4-0, a 2-8-2, a 4-6-4, a 4-8-4, and even a 4-8-8-4 "Mallet" type. I've always wanted to build a working Lego version of this beauty:

Oh, that's so perfect! The shape is correct, the colors are amazing, and the detail is incredible. This guy nailed, and them some.

Re: Twitch's Mobile Suit Development Facility (aka "WIP Thread")

I got started on the Gouf Custom today. Here are a few WIP pictures:

I got part of the torso assembled. While I waited for the plastic cement to dry I painted the monoeye, gun "scope", and the inside of the boosters.

The next time I do seam removal I will be painting the kit. This leftover residual residue is just unsightly, even though it is sanded down perfectly smooth.

I ran into the same issue when seam removing on the lower part of the torso, so I used a dark blue permanent marker to make it look somewhat better.

After these dry I might add some more coats of red paint to make them look better.

The inside of the backpack boosters are red to be anime-accurate.

Any constructive feedback and comments are welcome!
