    Gundam Thunderbolt Anime

For those who don't know what thunderbolt is: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Mobile_...am_Thunderbolt

In short it's a manga taking place in the OYW has a bunch of crazy designs and such and yeah. (read more in the link above and the announcement below)

    http://www.gundam.info/topic/14193

Well kinda cool, but one has to think are they oversaturating the market? This might be the situation that hurt X and Turn A in the 90s where they just kept running gundam back, to back, to back. I mean we had Unicorn finish then another OVA start up, then Try and Greco, then IBO, now this, a OYW Side story, which I must say has is a very fresh, and original idea. (sarcasm)

(I'm a bit salty that thunderbolt of all things is getting animated before Crossbone or even Ecole du Ciel, though the last one isn't finished IIRC)

Well anyways it's the news, and here you go.

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

i have mixxed feelings about this to. i cross my fingers that it will be good. and that it will spark some new Zeon MGs so i can use them for parts. i dont like the backpacks and lack of even light armor on some of the MS sections but if they made a MG Zaku from this id jack parts weapons and such from it. i like the torso of the thunderbolt Zaku a lot but the legs look off.

    Zaku on kova luu.

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

Probably a big reason why this was chosen is because most of the kits to be made from it, sans the ATLAS are all twists on various designs already out, so they can reuse old assets, and just add the new weapons and whatever else changes need to be done.

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

I can agree with your sentiments. I'm really glad there's more Gundam anime on the way, though I feel the One Year War could take a break for a while as they tell stories from other years. If anything, Blue Destiny should get an animated adaption.

But still, new Universal Century anime is great news itself.

This both good (more UC is always fine with me and Thunderbolt is different in tone and design so it than most other UC side stories to stand out) and bad (OYW, again.)

I really wished that they did Crossbone first

    0079 is really ovverated.

Also, since this is getting animated, does that mean we might get an Atlas Gundam model?

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

Interested in this since the look of the Thunderbolt HG kits interest me (wasn't able to get any of them though).
I'd like to see that red zaku with the huge backpack in action.

So will this be a regular series or an ova/movie like Origins and Unicorn?

    Doujinshi are self published works.

Gundam Thunderbolt is serialized by Shogakukan.

IBO hasn't been really holding my interest, so i am really looking forward to this. I wonder if we'll get the Gouf Sean Custom in plastic form.

This, plus it has kits already, same with AoZ...which is also serialized.

Which I'd also funny enough would rather see animated, its the same implausible amount of insane suits for the time like thunderbolt but at least isn't a time framem that's been done to hell and back. I dunno I just can't get excited for this, hell I haven't even bothered with the origin yet.

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

I was excited when I read the news. I "Squee'd" outloud.

Then I was like, damn, I would rather it be Crossbone, but I'll take it. I've not really been behind the latest Gundam anime efforts. WTF is G-Reco? IBO is ok so far, and BF Try lost me somewhere along the way. I'm stoked for more UC Timeline stuff.

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

One thing I hope they change in this adaption at least is the Atlas gundams design at least a bit, it just doesn't fit the aesthetic of the oyw at all at more unfitting then some AoZ stuff, least the other deipsigns make sense you know. It...doesn't even look UC sans the head, hell doesn't even look like an existing AU.

(Hell no atlas and more FA-78 would be great and I'd get behind it a bit then)

The origin is good you need to get on that.

Re: Gundam Thunderbolt is getting Animated

Origin has outdone itself so far. It's a very well structured drama with the perfect score.
