A Ballad of Iron and Blood (Game of Thrones RP): Discussion

So here is where I will post any relevant info we need for the RP.

Setting - Westeros, The Seven Kingdoms, 50 years after the Doom of Valyria and 50 years before Aegon's Landing.

The Seven Kingdoms and their ruling houses are shown below in the map and under that in a list:

    main-qimg-5ddf0760250a2a2ced4da4d104455fc1.jpg

Kingdom of the North, ruled by House Stark of Winterfell (Current King is unnamed in the canon, I will let the Stark RP'ers choose it)

Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale, ruled by House Arryn of the Eyrie (Current King is unnamed in the canon)

Kingdom of the Isles and Rivers, ruled by House Hoare of Fairmarket (Current King is Halleck Hoare)

Kingdom of the Rock, ruled by House Lannister of Casterly Rock (Current King is unnamed in the canon)

Kingdom of the Stormlands, ruled by the House Durrendon of Storm's End (Current King is Arlan V Durrandon, and according to canon, we should have him killed of at the end of the RP)

Kingdom of the Reach, ruled by House Gardener of Highgarden (Current King is unnamed in the canon)

Dorne, ruled by House Martell of Sunspear (Current Ruler is Princess Meria Martell, who survives past Aegon's Landing)

Backstory and Set-Up - The Ironborn of the Iron Islands, led by House Hoare, have recently invaded Westeros, taking over the Riverlands and subsequently stealing part of them from the Kingdom of the Stormlands, which are led by House Durrandon. Halleck Hoard, King of the Isles and the Rivers, has failed to conquer the Westernlands, which are led by House Lannister. Fearful that his people might think of him as growing soft, Halleck begins secretly planning another war, this time a double assault on the Stony Shore, which makes up the western edge of the Kingdom in the North and Blackwater Bay, which makes up the northern edge of the Stormlands. The RP opens up with whispers of the Ironborn's impending attacks reaching the North and the Stormlands.

Yeah, knighting a bastard is fine. You gonna give him the traditional Stormlands bastard name, Storm?

Re: A Ballad of Iron and Blood (Game of Thrones RP): Discussion

    A personality section maybe?

    Name: Ser Landar Storm
    Age: 27
    House: Bastard of Durrandon
    Kingdom Loyal To: Stormlands
Occupation: Knight in Service to Storms End

Appearance: Long charcoal hair, Green Eyes, stubble beard, squared jaw. Has a small scare somewhat noticeable on the right side of the bottom of his jaw.

Arms and Armor: Chain mail with a grey surcoat over it. Black cloak bearing his personal sigil: http://th02.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...cs-d7p2icx.jpg
Looks like the middle part of that, Cloak aside from the center patterns is all black. Top tine of the antler is broken though. Made of expensive silk.

Valaryian Steel Long Sword named: Fury's Song
Sword history: Sword been in the House for years, bears a golden stag on it's pommel notibly missing the top tine of the antler which was broken off when the Stormking who wielded it died generations ago, since then it was considered cursed, but upon the request (much too the dismay of a few men at arms in Storm's End) of Landar it was his when he was knighted.

Backstory: Bastard son of Arlan Durranadon, and Half brother of Argliac Durranadon born shortly before Arlan’s Marriage that produced his half siblings. Unlike most bastards he was brought to Storm’s End to be cared for instead of being left to his mother with the support of his father. Due to this, he was looked down on as typical of many bastards by most people there at first, except for by his father and a few people who he earned the respect of over the years, due to his skill with a blade (though far from the best anyone has seen) as well as his silver tounge. Despite his young age he has his father's trust and usually accompanies his father's men at arms and knights and lords (sometimes to their dismay) to keep tabs as well as fight along side them.

Over time he was knighted and developed a reputation of being fiercely loyal to his King Father, and his wife (though their relationship is curt at best, most loyalty for her, is just an extension of the loyalty he holds for his father and half brother), as well as the Stormlands as a whole, unlike most Baseborn children he wore the fact of what he was as a symbol of Pride. Suprisinly to most people he's turned down too oprounities to be landed and granted a house of his own by his father, some thinking it being a slight out of some spite he holds for his father, but quite the contrary, he figures it's easier to do what he wants for the time being while being an agent of his father.

As time continued his father came to rely on him for many things most men either wouldn't want to do, seeing it beneath them, or unsavory, or things that he couldn't trust them to do, as such it's led to a close relationship between his King and him, even though it's been somewhat strained due to the loss of parts of the kingdom to the Ironborn. Though he swears to do all he can to kick them out of his father's Kingdom for good. Seen by those who don't know him as loud, drunken at times, but fiercely loyal, though those who know them, that's what he wants them to think on all accounts, partially because they're true to a degree, but also because it helps keep people underestimating him.

Rumored to have a bastard of his own Sired during a trip to Lys four years ago.

Personality: Loud, a bit brash, but fiercely loyal and dutiful to a fault to his father's house. Has a cunning side as well, though he prefers to just follow orders and get the job done rather than completely scheme things on his own. Mainly because of some level of laziness.

Re: A Ballad of Iron and Blood (Game of Thrones RP): Discussion

Not much, this sheet is perfect if you ask me

    Name: Ser Lucas Blaidd

    Age: 25

    House: Blaidd

Kingdom Loyal To: The North, House Stark

    Occupation: Ranger of the North

Appearance: Lucas stands at about 6'1" a rather tall individual with Dark Hair and Piercing blue eyes. He wears the standard fare of the North with a cloak to cover his light armor and attire

Arms and Armor: Usually wears a coat of plates over his torso with a shirt of mail under that he wears over a light leather tunic. He carries knives and is proficient in the bow and arrow, but his preferred weapon of choice is a Long sword forged from Valerian Steel he received from his Older brother. He has yet to give it a name but he never lets it out of his site.

Backstory: Born to the House Blaidd the Second born, Lucas was expected to become a knight of the Gentry, serving both House Blaidd and House Stark with distinction and honor. He grew up on their estate, a rather looming Castle called Wolf's Den located south of Queenscrown and opposite of Long Lake, as a young nobleman expected to serve in the Armies of his King, Ulric Stark. He was close to his brother, Jason Blaidd and their closest friend William Stark, Prince of the North. Today, he serves as Ranger and enforcer, answering to his house and King Stark when the need arises.

A Brief History of House Blaidd

The House Blaidd began with the birth of Blaidd Snow, a Bastard child of the North. Blaidd grew up as a young squire in the house of a lord in the Service of House Stark. The House's Lord, Blaidd's father, cared little for the young man and his well being and essentially brushed him off as another Bastard Son that he accidentally fathered. Blaidd's upbringing was provided by a son of the House Stark, a genesis of what would become a lasting brotherhood between the two Houses in generations to come. The Son, whose name has been lost to time, trained Blaidd in the arts of war and peace, turning him from a Squire to a proper knight and a man of distinction. Over time, he grew up to become one of the most trusted men of the Prince of the North's Men-At-Arms. This had the unfortunate backlash of garnering jealousy from his Sire, who wanted his own son to be on the Prince's troupe. This resentment would result in the start of a bitter, albeit secret, struggle between father and bastard son.

This bitter struggle lasted on and off, with Blaidd's father attempting to kill him covertly, to Blaidd sabotaging his Father's operations out of spite. During all this, both garnered reputations of being formidable warriors fighting for the Starks. Unfortunately, two men's fates were utterly different. Blaidd's fate was one of triumph. Thanks to his steadfastness and loyalty, courage, acumen for diplomacy, skill in both war and peace, and the compassion that would make his House legendary, Blaidd was offered to be adopted into the Starks to become part of the Royal Family. Instead, Blaidd requested to form his own house, and the result was the house that now bears his name: House Blaidd. Blaidd's father, on the other hand, he and his brood suffered a darker fate. Upon the discovery of that Blaidd was to be granted his own house and Lands, his father led open rebellion. The rebellion led to a brutal struggle that ultimately led to the House becoming extinct.

With His sire's House no longer a threat, Blaidd and his newly formed House found the breathing room to flourish. It was not long after putting down the rebellion when Blaidd found and married his wife, Tanya, who bore him four sons. To commemorate this, Blaidd had 4 Valerian Steel Swords forged. There is a joke within the House Blaidd that the reason why he never named the blades was that the Valerian Smith who forged them told him that naming a Valerian weapon was bad luck (Truth be told the Smith was playing a prank, but Blaidd had a habit of superstition and took it seriously). The Four Swords were given to his sons when they come of age, becoming great knights of their own luster and over time, they and their descendants helped House Blaidd grow into an strong left hand for the Starks and the North.

Today, The Blaidds are still as strong as they were during their birth. However, over the course of their growth, They have lost one of the four Fangs of Blaidd as they are known collectively. Legend has it that when the fourth Blade is found, the House of Blaidd will be called to a dangerous and bloody war that will change the fabric of Westeros. The Blaidds of today are known infamously for their Rangers, who are not to be confused with the Rangers of the Nights Watch. They are considered the most lethal of the North's armies, capable of fast attacks and utilizing the terrain to full advantage. The Blaidds still serve the Starks fiercely, earning the nick name "Stark's Watchdogs" or more affectionately, "The Hellhounds of the North" is their formal nickname to anyone not of the North...

    Name: Mara Stone

    Age: 23

    House: None

    Kingdom Loyal To: None

Occupation: Sellsword looking for work, a strange occupation for a woman

Appearance: Mara stands at about 5'9", has dark red hair and Deep Green Eyes. She carries a lithe appearance but looks can be deceiving. As a Sellsword, she is incredibly fit and talented in the killing arts. Many men have made the mistake of taking her for easy prey...none have lived to tell the tale. She prefers to wear loose fitting clothing under her armor, a trait she picked up during her time in Essos.

Arms and Armor: Aside from a Curriass, Vambraces, and Armored boots, Mara Carries an Essos Falcion, a weapon she has an affectionate hold on.

Backstory: Mara Stone was born out of wedlock to parents she never knew. She was definitely born in the Vale, but was orphaned at a young age when bandits murdered her family and burned down what she assumed to be her home. Before the Bandits could have their way, a Mercenary by the name of Marv stepped in and saved her. Feeling pity for the young woman, the Sellsword took the young Mara in and to Essos. He trained her in the art of fighting, using everything from the sword to the knife to even a broken bottle if need be. It was when he was killed by several rivals. Taking her "Father's" Falcion in hand, she hunted them down one by one, earning her the nickname, "The Talon" one she tends to ignore. After settling the debt with them and several bankers in Bravvos, she set sale for her homelands in Westeros. Today she is a sellsword, seeking work to keep her head afloat and food in her belly.

Personalty section added, I forgot about that.

@ZRC, if Argliac is alive during this RP, he should be very young, since he is still in enough fighting prime at the time of Aegon's Landing 50 years later to dare to go out and fight the Targaryen forces in open battle. Other than that the character is fine.

@Keni, Bio checks out, character approved.

A Brief History of the House Lannister of Silvermane

The House Lannister of Silvermane has its roots in the youngest son of one of the previous Lannister Kings of the Rock, some 200 years before the RP begins. This son, knowing that he would have no part in the heritance, being the youngest of 7 sons, went off to make his own fortune at the age of 15. On one of his adventures in Essos, he saved the life of a Valyrian Dragonlord by accident, and was rewarded richly for it. He started on his way back to Westeros, by way of Dorne, when he fell in love with a Dornish Noblewoman. He soon took her as his bride, and returned to his homeland a married, fairly wealthy man. He asked his father the King permission to establish a branch House and was granted it, as well as a stretch of land by the Sunset Sea, where he founded the port city of Silvermane, named after his new sigil, a silver version of the Lion of Lannister.

In time the city of Silvermane grew into a prosperous city, rivaling Lannisport, and the House Lannister of Silvermane had grown powerful and wealthy, more so than the other branch House, the House Lannister of Lannisport, which was far older and more established. Finally, 70 years before the RP begins, King Daven II and his son Prince Tygett decided that the Silvermane Lannisters had grown too strong, and could become serious rivals to them in the near future. They secretly hired a large force of Ironborn and Sellsword Companies to attack Silvermane, which had no naval defenses other than the ones provided by the King, which were pulled away that fateful morning by the order of the King. Silvermane was burnt to the ground, though the ruling lord Cerion and his youngest son Tion were away on a hunting trip and escaped the city’s destruction. Cerion and Tion went to King Daven II for help avenging their home and family, as well as rebuilding the city, but the King said the crown couldn’t afford it, and just offered them positions in the household stewards.

Angered by the King, who was their family by blood, and his lack of support and sympathy towards their plight, Cerion cursed the Lannisters of Casterly Rock and took Tion and what little wealth they had left and traveled to Essos, hoping to find wealth and fortune there like their founding ancestor did decades ago. Unfortunately Cerion died pennyless years later, from sickless, and Tion was forced to work as a sellsword, scrapping by a meager living. He soon met a fellow Sellsword named Arathorn Turambar, himself a castaway from a formerly great Westerosi House. The two became bond brothers, and their children Damon and Hareth got married. Tion eventually died in battle, and Damon and Hareth were lost at sea, leaving behind the last remaining members of the Silvermane Lannisters, Martyn and Loren, to be raised by Arathorn.

(Martyn is my PC btw, and more his backstory will be touched upon when I post his bio)

A Brief History of the House Turambar of the North

The House Turambar is one of the most ancient Houses of Westeros, being founded by a man named Turin. In his childhood, Turin had his fortune told by one of the Children of the Forest, who told him he would win much fame and glory at a young age, but like the torch that shines the brightest, he would die at a young age as well. Scoffing at the prophesy, Turin swore to make his fate his own. Turin was the son of a farmer in the North, and when the House Stark, Kings in the North, began a war against the Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale, Turin answered the call for men-at-arms in order to escape the life of a peasant. Turin proved to be a mighty warrior, and gained the favor of the Starks, who rewarded him with lands and a Valyrian Steel sword, which he named Destiny's Bane. Turin married and had 4 children and it seemed his life was going well when suddenly that all changed when a wild dragon came to his lands, and burned down everything. Only Turin and his eldest son survived. Turin vowed vengeance, and after leaving his son in the care of the Starks, set off to hunt the dragon which ruined his life. Joining him was his best friend, the eldest son of the Starks, who welded a Valyrian Steel bow. Together the two hunted down the dragon, but failed to kill it, resulting in the death of the Stark Prince. Cursing the dragon and his fate, Turin left to Essos in shame, not willing to see his son or ruling lords, knowing he failed them all. Turin contracted Greyscale while at Essos at the age of 26, and knew he was doomed to die as was foretold, while still at the youth and prime of his life. After a night of heavy drinking to morn his fate, Turin came to realization that even though he was cursed by knowing his fate, that did not mean that he could not choose the way he left this world. Rather than dying forgotten and shamed, Turin raised himself up and went to the Valryian Freehold, where he requested that the Valyrian smiths forge his blade and his fallen comrade's bow into a great spear, which could be used to slay the dragon. The Valyrians, who usually did not care one bit about the lives of the "lesser" men, sensed the hand of fate surrounding Turin and agreed to help him. Turin named the newly forged spear Oblivion, and quickly returned to Westeros, and hunted down the dragon once more. Turin fought the dragon in the far North, near the Wall, wounding its wings to the point where it couldnt fly anymore, but at the cost of several severe wounds to himself. Finally, Turin led the beast into a series of mist-covered canyons and caves, and hid in a small crevasse at the base of a canyon as the dragon approached. As the dragon crawled over Turin unaware, Turin spied a gap in the beast's scales, knocked loose by the Stark Prince in their original battle. Turin thrusted Oblivion into the gap, and the dragon shrieked its death cries, which were heard for miles and miles. The dragon collapsed, dead, but unfortunately it crushed Turin under its weight. However, when Rangers of the Night's Watch arrived later to investigate the source of those cries they had heard and found Turin's body, they saw that he had a smile on his face, knowing he had faced his fate, and won.

Fast forward thousands of years, and the House Turambar, once the right hands of the Kings of Winter the Starks, have all but become extinct, with their last member an old man in Essos, who has been rendered childless. Still their legacy will live on, as every child in the North, and many a child in the other six kingdoms as well, knows the story of Turin Turambar the Dragonslayer, a man who faced his fate head-on without fear.

(My PC is also descended from the House Turambar, and wields their ancestral weapon, the Valyrian Steel spear Oblivion, which is why I have posted a brief history on this House.)

    Sounds good.

I got the first 3 chapters of the story all planned out, will post about them tomorrow since I will sleeping soon. BTW, what does everyone think of me making a Lannister PC? I got to believe that there arent many Lannister fans among us, unless you count being a fan of Tyrion. I was originally going to make a different named House, which would of been more of a Martell/Lannister hybrid, but I am going with more Lannister than anything else now, tho the Dornish blood will show on my PC, especially his looks. My PC's storyline will ofc be him finding out about the Lannisters of Casterly Rock's betrayal of his family, and his quest for revenge.
