Definitely nowhere near it's following in the west certainly. But there's some love for it and influence and the like now and then, things like that Unicorn box or poster and there was a zeta one that was influenced by star wars both of them official if I remember right. Plus there's some other notable mangaka and others who like western art as a whole too. (But that's a whole other tangent, plus there's the western car scene over there which is a trip) So it's not too uprising that there's gonna be one or two who like star wars allot.

But yeah he's probably a bigger fan than most over there, there's also a character who basically fills Yoda's roll who's great. (Small old man who plays senile and is a mentor figure)

So I just got back from watching The Last Jedi. Holy $#!+, that was amazing. Has everybody seen it? Can we finally discuss about it?

    Re: Star Wars Thread

My only complaint is that I felt that the third act dragged on more than it should have. Other than that, everything about that film was fantastic. Especially the climax. Man, I need to find a way to edit the poll on this thread as I would rank The Last Jedi as one my favorites. It's not quite as good as Empire, but I would say it's on par with A New Hope and Return of the Jedi.

    Re: Star Wars Thread

Since we are talking about TLJ, did you guys feel that the Canto Bight sequence was a bit, unnecessary? Because IMO, it had no place in the middle of the movie and killed the pacing of the second act. Also, what where your thoughts on:
Luke being grumpy and dismissive of Rey, even when she managed to find him using the map he himself had made so someone was able to him

    Snoke being kill

Lukes force projection of himself lightyears away

Luke opting to, even for a moment, to kill Ben in his sleep

    Leias Mary Poppins shenanigans

    Holdos and Poe "conflict"

    Rose

    Luke being kill

    Holdos hyperspace kamikaze

    Phasma jobbing, again.

    Re: Star Wars Thread

I thought it was amazing how there'd be parts of the movie that were excellent but how the overall execution of the film was terrible. Just terrible.

Just what they did to Luke alone was enough to say f*ck disney's Star Wars.

I was cool with Leia's thing. It makes sense to me. I mean, he had to build a new order from scratch and while relying on the whole "I'm a Jedi Knight" thing could work for the most part some diplomacy on Luke's end would make finding students to be allowed to come with him to study under him easier. Felt like a trade, Luke trains Leia in some aspects of the Force while she trains him in the art of diplomacy.

Rose was worthless and unneeded. Finn's arc should've ended then and there.

Phasma was the new Fett just based off movie actions.

Overall I thought it was a terrible movie. The Prequels were better than this mess.

    I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm with Doug in regards to The Last Jedi;

Were there flaws? Certainly. Were they distracting? Yeah. Did they ruin the whole movie? Hell no. The amount of positive attributes in this film, in my opinion, were simply amazing and so well done that they overshadowed all of the negative attributes. This is very much unlike the prequels, which had so many flaws that they completely ruined the films. It could be that other people have ridiculously high standards, or maybe I'm just more forgiving of the movie's flaws. I loved it. It was definitely a step up from The Force Awakens and Rogue One. I'd place it between A New Hope and Return of the Jedi.

I personally thought TLJ was amaze-balls...TFA spent too much time reminding me it was a Star Wars movie...like we all know who Han Solo is, we all know what the Millennium Falcon is...stop wasting scenes trying to refresh our memory and just fill in the massive history timeline gaps, tell us what the hell happened in the last 30 years...

Oh and stop trying to be funny, Star Wars isn’t supposed to be clever and witty, I almost walked out of the theatre the first time Han made a retarded joke about the boltcaster, the 2nd joke almost got a soda thrown at the screen...

Anyways, before I get ahead of myself...TLJ is up there as one of the all time faves...just after ESB and Rogue One...

It's nice to see that someone else enjoyed this film as much as I did. It really was a step up from The Force Awakens.

I think a problem Star Wars movies will have going forward is that they will be fighting against fans expectations. They can't beat the timelessness of the originals, but can't avoid the stigma of the prequels.

    Re: Star Wars Thread

So last night was the premier of the second half of the fourth and final season Star Wars Rebels, and... holy $#!+ did they drop a bombshell. Knowing what I know now, I think that this series is going to end with the Ghost crew going their separate ways. Sabine will rejoin the fight on Mandalore, Ezra will become the leader of the Lothal resistance, Hera of course will be made an Alliance general, and Zeb... I think will either go help his people or stay with the Rebellion.

    Re: Star Wars Thread

So I just saw penultimate episodes before the finale of Star Wars Rebels, and these episodes show just how powerful the Father, the Daughter, and the Son were. They manipulate the Force on god-like levels. And these episodes served to reinforce that, and it has shown that a new kind of Force power can be unlocked. I can't directly say what it is, so I'll say it in the form of a riddle: All things it devours; Birds, beasts, trees, and flowers; gnaws at iron, bites at steel; grinds hard stones to meal.

    Re: Star Wars Thread

I was not a fan of The Last Jedi. The Force Awakens was passable at best, but this movie was a complete shambles.

From the character assassination of Luke, to the bloated filler (I'm looking at you casino arc), to the characters acting moronic, to the plot holes...

I'll probably pass on movie nine.

I'm still in a bit of a shock. To think that The Mortis Gods could use the Force to manipulate time. However, I shouldn't be too surprised as Darth Vader pointed out in A New Hope, ",The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of The Force."
