Led testing, going to need some more filler in the upper deck.

Yup, kick the light down a bit, but still it's the right colour and definitely lighting all the right places. Are you using stop filter at all? I have a ton of different stop sheets that come in really handy.

Going to cut up the side and add a bit of black card or tin foil.

The engines are going to be fun to stop leaking........

Depending on the finish, some light leak can look good.

    Re: RPC's WIP ~ my first MG's

Very true Mark and this is going to be painted to be very weathered leaking light is not to much of a problem. Brass rod ordered to mount it on and run wires to power and I'm going to wire in a Trimpot and veriabl resistor to set the light level as its a bit bright at the moment.

All this LED work gives me a head ache back to the sticking and glueing, a bit of work on the bay doors and the front stableisers fitted and I like the look of the finish but not sure if it's to much.

OK I will get this out of the way first. This picture. It made me laugh pretty good. It looks like a surprised fish. The white part is the fin, then the little "O" is the eye and the gaping mouth (the look out deck). TOO funny.

Anyway. I like the detail on the door hatches. But IMO the battery pack that you used for the Rutter/stabilizer I think is a bit much. Look more towards a wing from something like a Zeta or Delta MS. I like the thought of the Rutter but it just looks bulky compared to the rest of the ship.

Crap, now I can't Not see it. LOL

Lol, the front viewing decks shape looking like a mouth was a accidental but I'm going with it, I added the front stableisers just to add to the shark look. The plastic rod sticking out will hold large stableisers.

Definitely with you on the Rutter (I didn't know it was called that) now, after looking at it for a bit it's definitely to big. I want something there just not sure what at the moment.

    This might work?

That looks much better, can it lean towards the Aft or rear of the ship a touch? or turn it around. If you look at the front of it, it has a raised part and that would put the long end to the rear with the raised bubble and the shorter side to the front. That and the bottom is at an angle so as with sea ships it would want the leading edge higher and the trailing edge to be a tad longer. Then you could try and match the angle of the bottom edge with the connection to the hull and that would give it the slight angle towards the rear. So that little change would make it look like it is "Cutting" through the air. But the shape and size are more to scale with the rest of the hull and that makes it look like a functional part of the ship.

I have to add a correction to myself. This would be more of a Keel than a Rutter. A Rutter is used to steer a ship, where a Keel is for stability. The way that you have the part it looks to be more of a Keel. I know it is just a word change, but just to be correct I have to use the correct terminology.
This part would be used to keep the airship level and stable in the air, just like the Keel on a sailboat.

Cheers Gmonkey, some great ideas that I will most likely be using.

Made a start on the base rock formation and unmanned way point.

Actually, I'm looking forward to seeing the base take shape. You always do such nice rock work and scenery.

Cheers Mark, I do like making the landscape. Old school sign post made for the way point and making use a Zaku back pack and also made a start on a tree.

I really must try a dio at some time. I've got some really good surf board foam core that is nice to work with.

Did some ground work last night and also taken enough pictures to do a small tutorial on how I do my rocks etc, once I'm up to the point of adding grass I will post it up but for now here is my chocolate cake.

There a secret to getting that I shall reveal all soon. It's nothing ground breaking and it's all very simple.
Just added some scatter and managed to get it suck all over the place so once I have cleared it will show that.

    Cheers Mark.
