Thanks RPC, and ZAKU. It was a beast in the beginning but now that I have tackled all the hard crap it is getting easier.
As promised here are the other pictures.

Yes the top section has a rather bad lean to it. But that is only because I have not fully attached it together yet. I still need to take it back apart. This is just so I can see what will and what will not show. So I know what I can paint for details and what I don’t have to waist time on because it will never be see the light of day again. Also the clear parts are not in their slots so the lights don’t look right.

    Re: Monkeys Garage

There is a mix of multiple different golds used on this kit. One is straight “Pale Gold” then there is some done with pale gold over an airframe aluminum base. And some parts are titanium gold, also some with the airframe aluminum for a base. But the really cool ones are pale gold on an airframe aluminum then a dusting of gold titanium. All of the metallic paints are Alclad II. I will get a picture of each one so you can see the difference.

Thanks buddy. I have the pale gold. I like the color, but I'll have to try it on the airframe aluminum and pick up some titanium gold.

The Air frame goes on just like the chrome. You need to start with the high gloss black then dust on the Air frame to make it shinny. Then go from there.

    Re: Monkeys Garage

I have ordered my replacement stash of Alclad but also got some AK interactive xtreme metals to have a play with.

I have found gloss enamel black seems to work better with the Alclad. I have never had much luck with acrylic gloss black. Which one are you using GM or are you using the Alclad gloss black?

    Re: Monkeys Garage

I use the Alclad Gloss black. Enamels and acrylics are not good friends and don't play well together. I'm also one of the weird people who don't mix paint brands with each other so alclad base for alclad paint.

I have been looking at the AK metal wax stuff, just haven't jumped off the cliff to buy them yet. From what I have seen they look really nice and are easy to use.

I have just started to spray these after brush painting small parts, thinned they spray just like Alclad but with less problems. BOB was painted with them.

    Re: Monkeys Garage

Well hopefully I'll have my stash of AK xtreme metal (the pre mixed ready for airbrush) to play with by the weekend. Just started with a stainless steel and a pale brass for now. They are a bit cheaper than the Alclad here (actually around 2/3rds the price), but I still like my Alclad mixes I have been using. If they work out well I will be getting more. From all my delving into them they are more durable than Alclad.

Here are some of the differences with the golds that I have been using.

The circled one is straight“Gold Titanium “

Now the other one is “Pail Gold”

In this one the circled one is “Pail Gold” over “Air Frame Aluminum” with a dusting of “Gold Titanium”

This one is straight “Pail Gold” over “Air Frame Aluminum”. It makes the Gold a good bit brighter.

Then we have the new “Brass” paint. Sitting with the golds it is a nice blend of metal colors. Then you add copper and magnesium and it makes for a great metal detail combination.

    Monkeys Garage

This sort of shows how well the Brass goes with the copper and other colors.
The Brass is holding the piston,(Candy Electric Blue with Chrome) under that is a copper part with what I feel looks like heat sinks.
It doesn’t show to well in this picture (I suck at lighting, when my brother comes out he is going to help me with it) the heat sinks are multiple colors over each other.
A base of Dull Aluminum then burnt Umber, Burnt metal blue, and a few dots or splashes of Aluminum (bright) to give a highlight to the fins. In person it looks really cool. The colors in this picture go from the top down. The part in the middle is Aluminum with for now just primer, that part still needs to be re-masked and painted the proper gray..

The frame is Air Frame Aluminum, but I did not put it on fully, so the gloss Black base still shows a bit, but the aluminum is still shinny. I will go over the whole frame with a mix of Insignia White and white. About a 70/30 mix of Mission Models paint. I will then do chipping and add “scrapes” where the metal would have rubbed together. I will then go over it with Oils and a wash to add a bit but not to much grime and fluid leaks from PMs.
I’m basing the under framing off of real jet aircraft. So the outer will be the grays and what not, but like actual military aircraft the inner frame and compartments will be an off white. I have started the process on the chest sections.
