Can my new favorite be Pacific Rim 2?

Re: Godzilla, Gamera, and other Kaiju movies.

Blu-rays for Godzilla 2000, GMK, Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, and the Rebirth of Mothra Trilogy came out this past Tuesday (September 9th). The Rebirth of Mothra set marks the first time that Rebirth of Mothra III has been available on any home video format in the US.

Naturally, I've already bought my blu-rays. Sadly, for the foreseeable future, I will not have the free time necessary to enjoy them.

I had no idea that they had come out. I might have to pick some of those up. I know I'm for sure going to be getting the new Godzilla some time next week.

Re: Godzilla, Gamera, and other Kaiju movies.

For the record, the following are available on bluray in North America (or will be within the month):
    1. The original Gojira/Godzilla (both as a Criterion release and as a normal release. I can't emphasize this enough: get the Criterion release).
    2. King Kong vs. Godzilla
    3. Godzilla vs. the sea monster (aka Ebirah, Horror of the Deep)
    4. Destroy All Monsters
    5. Godzilla vs the Smog Monster (aka Godzilla vs Hedorah)
    6. Godzilla vs Gigan (aka Godzilla on Monster Island)
    7. Godzilla vs Biollante
    8. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
    9. Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle to Save the Earth (aka Godzilla vs Mothra II)
    10. Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II
    11. Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla
    12. Godzilla vs Destroyah
    13. Godzilla (1998 American movie aka GINO)
    14. Godzilla 2000
    15. Godzilla vs Megaguirus
    16. Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack (aka GMK)
    17. Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla
    18. Godzilla Tokyo SOS
    19. Godzilla Final Wars
    20. Godzilla (2014 American movie)

    #8 & 9, 10 & 11, 12 & 15, 16 & 17, and 18 & 19 were released as two packs.

For those keeping track, that leaves 10 Godzilla movies still in need of North American blu-ray releases.

    Non-Godzilla blu-rays:
    King Kong Escapes.
Rebirth of Mothra trilogy (three pack).
    The entire Gamera series.
    Pacific Rim.

Its such a shame that I am the only one in my family who enjoys Godzilla and other Kaiju movies. I can't watch them when everyone is home so those few moments when I am alone are priceless.

Have you tried showing them the original, Raymond Burr-less, version of Gojira? In my experience, people tend to reconsider their negative views of Kaiju movies once they've seen the original, unbutchered version of the first Godzilla movie.

How was the new Godzilla? After the first modern remake I was too afraid to go see it for fear they would rape him again

2014 Godzilla was awesome. You could tell that the director was a fan.

I knew that there was going to be a Pacific Rim II, but I have no idea if it's a sequel (how could you have a sequel on such good ending) or prequel. In case, here's a teaser image of Pacific Rim II.

And from what I have heard there is supposed to be Pacific Rim 3 too. Well Pacific Rim 2 as a sequel might work if they are trying to invade again or maybe some other species. Ehh who knows, if its as good as the first one.

Re: Godzilla, Gamera, and other Kaiju movies.

The problem is that how could you bring back the Alien Masters after wiping them out using Gipsy's nuclear reactor, without making it look like they pulled it out of their @$$?

Re: Godzilla, Gamera, and other Kaiju movies.

I hate to break it to you, but in these sorts of movies, they generally don't care if it makes sense or not. Also maybe not every alien was in range of the blast. Presumably their dimension is bigger than the blast radius. Blowing up Gypsy Danger was for the purpose of sealing the portal, not killing all of the aliens.

Fair enough. However, as an amateur writer, it would piss me off to no end if they did an @$$ pull.

No doubt, it's possible that they will do something simple. Open up a 2nd rift perhaps. Or they could do something completely different. Have the aliens actually invade via space this time.

Re: Godzilla, Gamera, and other Kaiju movies.

I thought at the end just as Gypsy was exploding they panned out to show that the Kaiju had their own masters MP them and sending them thru the breach?

They just watched as Gypsy exploded in the distance. Movie angles don't tell much, but it looked like they were far away from the blast and the Kaiju they were creating.
