    Re: Latest Kit Acquisitions!

Walked into a couple of pretty sweet deals at Hobby Lobby this evening. Wasn't in the market for the kit (at first I thought it was the same type of car as the Manta from the old M.A.S.K. cartoon, but then I remembered that one was a Nissan...), but at that price, I couldn't say no to it. Then I saw the huge markdown on the airbrush and sure as heck couldn't say no to that, either. Needless to say, the savings (and The Coupon) went to the spray stand. Not sure if this was just at my store or not, but it might be worth checking out if you've got one local; there were a couple of car kits, a couple military kits, and a couple of the crap Star Wars kits (crap cause they're from the new movies) at a pretty impressive discount.

And on a related note, I find myself needing some adapters for the hose fittings for the airbrush, as my compressor fittings are too small for it to screw onto (currently using a cheap Master and an Iwata Neo). Anyone have any suggestions?

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. At least, that's what I keep telling myself with all my modeling supplies...

Figured I'd probably end up there again before long, lol. Ever since once opened up locally I can't seem to stay away.

I finally got a “Chopper II”

I also got a bunch of “Decal paper” so I can make my own waterside decals and change the colors and sizes. I will update later in my WIP. I can say that they print great and are really easy to do.

I love that thing! Make use of it every time I scratch build something; definitely a time saver!

Is the black printed on white decal paper or clear? What's the brand?

Vandus Hammerhand will be coming in the mail in a day or two, along with some much needed Dorn Yellow, a perfect color for when I repaint my HGUC The O.
Pro tip for fixing seam lines: It rubs the puddy on its seam or else it gets the hose again.

These are all clear. The "Pink" ones are the original decals that came with the kit. The brand is "Blinggasm" I got them off Amazon Prime.

Went to a bbq at my friends house yesterday. I found this in his stash and grabbed it for a great price!

I think that antenna should be replaced by helicopter blades.

Monkey, what are you using to seal the decals after printing? I'm guessing by the description they are inkjet. If you have not done them before, remember to trim just outside the ink or the edges will bleed.

Well the first Test run I did not seal at all, just to see what happens. Yup I know it says to seal, but I'm curious like that. But I also found out the hard way that if you trim in the black all the ink runs out almost as soon as you put it in water!. I will seal them with a very light coat of
    1. Future
    2.Mission Models clear
    3.Krylon clear
and than I will see which one works best.

I use the Tamiya gloss clear (as future is almost impossible to get here now) in the spray can and give it 2 coats. First coat not too heavy so the ink doesn't smudge. I have done decals on RC helicopter canopies this way that are inches in length and width, works well.

I'm interested to see how they react with Future gloss coat, especially if it's handbrushed.

How well did your decals conform to curved surfaces?
