I liked it allot more than I did back in 2011/2012-ish than I did back then, action was better than I remembered it (and I always did like that, especially the Naval battle episode where Asuka first comes up and the one after it) and enjoyed the characters more as a whole (mostly Shinji and Misato) EoE sured up allot of my issues with the ending, still kinda just ended but was better than what 25 and 26 were on their own, felt like a more natural progression of 24. Even the eva units have grown on me a bit. Kinda the same thing I had with Wing where I went into it with too much hype or something and didn't like it too much or maybe my taste has changed it's been a long while since then hell allot of it felt new due to the long gap. I digress I could be here all day. Gonna probably start the rebuilds tomorrow.
I did something similar a while back and i ended up liking some aspects better than in my earlier attempts to watch Eva (Asuka is still trash and she only get worse by the time 3.0 rolls aroundreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee). I've grown to like the Evas themselves a lot more as the time passes, Unit 01, 13 and 03/04 are top tier. On the EoE, it fine for the most part. The very, very end is still lost to me, most likely cause I'm a brainlet and it's 4deep for me.

Rebuild 1.0 is fine, it's basically the first 5-6 episodes cut down and streamlined into a fun package. Also music is god tier. 2.0.....is interesting. It vaguely follows the story till Zeruel attack, with number of changes and additions, some good, some bad. Then it goes off the damn rails and totals four city blocks. And I like it. I unironically like the 2.0 ending. Then 3.0 happens and I want to burn down some orphanages with all the orphans inside.(Not really) It's pure s***. By significant margin the worst thing in the franchise and that is including the porn and Asuka.. 3.0 is an epitome of bad and should be required viewing for people to understand how not to make a continuation. I hate it.

But At least the Evas are cool. Unit 09 and 13 are great and Unit 08 is fine. Only bad one is the redesigned 02. And music is again, ace.

Re: What are you currently watching/reading?

Yeah having seen the rebuilds the day before yesterday I agree more or less, though from rebuild 05 and 08 are my favorite, but I'm a sucker for pink and quadruped robots both, from the main series it's probably 00 though 01 is nice too. Especially agree on the 2.0 having a top tier soundtrack then again I could say that about all of them. That said some things disappointed me due to time crunch as in No 02 ocean fight and no Music fight but can't really do that in a movie situation. As for Asuka, I can't say I like or or really dislike her too much but they really made her a non character in the rebuilds honestly, she feels like she's just there, maybe she'll do something in 3.0+1.0. 3.0 was a wild ride I don't know if I hate it really, it feels like it needed a good 40 more minutes because it kinda just rushed though shit rather than explaining anything meanwhile both the other movies are just a smidge under/over 2 hours. Missed opportunities abound with explaining what happened in the 14 years between 2.0 and it.

Overall I think I prefer the original series at the end of it due to having time to breath a bit, but I enjoyed them.

Question, is Glorious Losers worth buying? Barns & Nobels has the set.

Or Evangelion? I watched the movies 1.1 2.2 and 3.3. And it was good but sometimes the mangas are better. Anyone read them?

I'd say yes to Glory of the Losers. I have the first two volumes, and they are good reads.

Thanks Zeta, Barnes & Nobels now have up to volume 6. Not sure if that is all of them but that is what they have on the shelf. Right next to "Thunderbolt" that they have up to Volume 7. I have the first 3, might get the other 4 so I'm up to date on that one. Not sure though because I have read them on line. Still something to be said about having the book to hold in your hand.

Watched the My Conquest is the Sea of Stars last year and liked it but stuff came up and didn't get into the series as soon as I wanted, so went back watched it again as well as Overture to a New war then started the main series at three (Overture for those who don't know is a recut of Episodes 1 and 2 with extra material and more stuff fleshed out in a movie format) and I'm enjoying it allot. More than I thought.
I recently found out about Legend of the Galactic Heroes because of this 2018 adaption, and I find it extremely wonderful! I'm gonna check the older anime about it. This 2018 adaption is only up to 12 episodes as far as I know.

I've heard the new adaption is pretty good haven't seen it yet, my self probably gonna wait until the first season is all out. But yeah the old series is worth a shot, I'm a bit biased though it became one of my favorites, it has it's flaws in some areas (animation is a bit jarring when it goes from older style to a digital style at seemingly random scenes later in the main OVA unless you find old Laser Disc rips from the original release) and it can throw allot at you at times, but it ticked so many of the right boxes in terms of what I was looking for in a space opera.

    In other unrelated news though:

Vento Aureo has finally been announced, been waiting for ever it feels like it's been forever. Glad to see it happen since part V only recently got decent scanlatations finished wonder if between that and the anime if it'll change the majority of opinions about it, in the west granted. My one issue is the fact they didn't use Giorno's usual blue he was seen in.

You have no idea how much I fell in love with the series. It's a lot better than any of the Gundam series in terms of space opera IMO. Thanks for the warning. I guess I'm gonna go for the older release. I don't mind old animations. Jumping back forth between new and old animations is a different story. It strikes me off just like the Zeta New Translation movies.

Re: What are you currently watching/reading?

Started watching Victory Gundam. And I have to ask why don't people like this series? I'm 30 episodes in and am really into it. All the characters are really good excluded four. Three of which are straight up trash.

I really cannot stand Chronicle Asher. I guess I just straight up despise all Char characters... Really Hate Katejina loos too. The typical Char fan girl just like every other Gundam... Oliver Inoe and Odelo Henrik are also rather annoying. But other than that I have to say for as full a cast as this series has. They have all been really enjoyable and actually have CHARACTER to them!

And I am really getting into the Mobile Suits designs too. Love the legs of this gen of mobile suits. And Victory Gundam is allot nicer design than I thought it would be. Cant comment on the V2 yet though.

This series all but confirms that Yoshiyuki Tomino has a serious problem with woman... He ether makes them trash or he kills them in brutally uncalled for ways...

    Case in point
