Re: Custom LEDs for my Next MG build need help

Hi Bros I need some help with this one.

How did he managed to light up the sword. Just put two high powered LED at both ends of the sword to achieve this?

Also he uses pink LEDS? I tried using a bright white to recreate the effect but it didnt get the effect he got.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It appears he used a led at both ends. I'm betting he use white LEDs because of the ends are white wash where the LEDs are. But I could be wrong.

Which direction was your led placed? Was it aimed where the pink piece plugs in? And remember, LEDs show on picture are a lot brighter than in person.

He could have a resistor to cut down on the brightness. But maybe they are pink. I don't have any pink LEDs to try out and see.

Re: Custom LEDs for my Next MG build need help

Why should it be merged with a scratch building thread?

well my though would be it would keep everything under one roof and that stickied thread isnt just scratch building its also for LEDs and kit repair sense they all relate. sort of the same philosophy as the paint thread just a bit more broad subject sense we dont see as many people doing those things by comparison.

also i agree this may be this case. white LEDs would help diffuse the light and i think that would get the desired effect. you could try putting some white paint on your LEDs.

Re: LED and Scratch Build How To

I think the thread i bumped and merged it with is more appropriate. I remember there being another thread as well but i can't find it. Might have disappeared during one of the sites downtime periods.

Re: LED and Scratch Build How To

i thought that was the reason we made and stickyed this thread. http://www.gundamforums.com/showthre...-repair-thread because the subjects go hand in hand. and we dont see many people doing it here.

and yea i also remember it. the data base errors must have ate it.

Re: LED and Scratch Build How To

Hi guys, I just realise that I need to modify the sword effect to get what the pic is presenting otherwise I can only get the effect below if I use the original part. (image grab from a blog)

So consider I wanna make a cool effect for the blade I went to some acrylic shop and made this. Hopefully after some sanding I can make a cool beam effect

Re: LED and Scratch Build How To

If the light passes through your new acrylic rod, does it work from both ends? You might not need the led's in the middle. If that works, you could cut a channel out of the back of the existing effect part, and full it with a shaped piece of acrylic.

I think since it is clear I should be able to only use 2 leds. Gotta try after sanding and hollow out both tips to try

Have you tried to set 2 LEDs on the ends and test using the original beam effect part? You may not need to go through all the trouble with the new rod?
