    Re: F97 wip thread

idk if you're still looking but I really like the Stynylrez primer. It's water based acrylic so it doesn't stink up the place and seems to work as well as the Tamiya laquer primer. Also has the...

Re: USA Gundam Store Montly Subscription Analysis

I read the first paragraph of this and was thinking "oh that's really interesting". I'm new to this whole thing and mostly looking to build and paint stuff to learn and get better before I tackle...

Re: What's your Real Grade wishlist?

Well then yo… sign me up for an RG Sazabi too. I want to build another and I don't really like either of the MG kits.

Re: dedguy's stuff he's currently working on.

No actual updates but I finally got a desktop spraybooth so I can start painting again. Woo. All of my projects have been on hold until pay day.

Re: What's your Real Grade wishlist?

Not sure if this is the best place for this but it is the most current RG discussion. I have only built HG kits thus far but I have seen several MG kits and the main difference I've noted, aside from...
  6. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

Anyone have any suggestions for a transparent hot pink acrylic I could use with my airbrush? As best I can tell Tamiya and Vallejo don't make one.

Re: How many kits do you work on at once?

Since I posted this I went from just having one kit I was working on to now having three -_-

Nice, look forward to seeing your work.
  9. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

Have you considered using Tamiya spray paint? Can be a bit more expensive than hand painting but should yield a better result. You could use TS-30 (Silver Leaf) with a top coat of TS-72 (Clear Blue)....

Re: LGT PG Astray Red Frame - Custom Paint

First I should say this thus far looks fantastic. In regards to your last update, I'm not sure what sort of paint effect you're going for. Do you have any examples of the look you're going for?

Re: dedguy's stuff he's currently working on.

I like using wire more as it allows me to bend the clip to be any direction. You can get a spool of 16ga. galvanized wire pretty cheap.

Cool, thanks. That does seem to cover some of my needs.
  13. Best kits to harvest jet thruster parts and other mechanical details?

My eventual end goal for sometime this year is to pick up the Re/100 Nightingale and do a significant amount of kitbashing on it. Specifically I want to add a bunch of mechanical detailing (hoses,...

It had a slight learning curve but I'm really digging it.

I am new at this but it's what I have been using as a top coat.

Went through the whole thread. Some pretty cool stuff here. Have any updates on the diorama with the Zaku in the mud and rain?

How many kits do you work on at once?

I've just gotten into this whole model building thing. I am doing full paints of anything I'm building and I'm finding due to cure times and what not there's a fair amount of downtime. Had me...

Re: dedguy's stuff he's currently working on.

I only have about 12. I really need WAY more. I'd like to be able to spray each color all in one go but I had to do all these white parts in two batches.

If they weren't pre-assembled (and glued at that) it would have been way easier to paint some of the details.

Priming has begun. I really need to get more alligator clips.

The helmets they're wearing. Both were sculpted and then cast in resin by another customizer not myself.

Might do some more paint detailing on the neck parts but for now I think this is done.

  23. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

The kit I'm currently working on I want the bulk of it to be flat white. I have a flat white primer (Badger's StynylRex). Is there any reason why I can't just do the primer and a flat clear coat?

I think that's a common tactic when painting the two tones for the Sazabi. I want to do some tests of painting the trans red over different colors. In particular I'm...

Re: dedguy's stuff he's currently working on.

They're really quite neat, though the paint is a bit naff. They also come partially assembled (glued looks like), at least Nightingale did. Still quite happy with the purchase. If they weren't blind...
