Re: Wave Nippers HT-389 HG, HT-390 HG

Mine just made it in this week. Did a comparison with my well used God Hand and there's no comparison. The Wave produce a fair amount of white stress on the cut while the God Hand produce almost none....

Re: Wave Nippers HT-389 HG, HT-390 HG

I use Lindstrom 8148 cutter in the beginning which is actually more expensive than God Hand. It cut through plastic like butter but the God hand is arguably better with it shallower cut angle. Guess...

Re: Wave Nippers HT-389 HG, HT-390 HG

If you just want one good pair of cutter that you'll be sure to be happy with. Just get a set of God Hand SPN-120 5.0 and you'll never have to worry about cutter again. the time you saved from...

Only if you don't get the LED kit. But a PG Unicorn without LED would be a waste.

Re: Best low-budget MG for beginners?

Instead of older MG, why not go RG instead. They have much better detail, articulation than some of the older MG. You can get some of them for ~$25 on Amazon with free shipping.
  7. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

While they may be hard to find depending on where you're. I use mostly Mr. Hobby lacquer and the results are great. You'll probably still need to use more than one type of paint so when you spray...
  8. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

If you can return the hardware store compressor and can spend a bit more money. Get one of this, a compressor with a tank won't have to run all the time:

  9. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

In the case, I would suggest not doing the seams for you first try. Most of the newer MG, Rg kits hide the seams well. I would cut the parts off the spruce, sand the nubs. wash them in soapy water....
  10. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

For internal parts. Seal the seam, sand, clean, prime and paint. For external parts, you attached them to internal parts, seal and sand seam, clean, mask (attached parts in different color), prime...

Poll: Re: Troubles with painting models!

All depends on how you build you kits. It all depends on how much you handled the piece. If you pre-built then take it apart for paint, then you probably handled the piece a lot and should wash it in...

    Sticky: Re: Latest Kit Acquisitions!

Cool. Checked out a couple of reviews on Youtube. Seems there are still a few exposed nubs and some loose pieces that needs to be glued. Don't know if it will warrant a full re-paint.

    Sticky: Re: Latest Kit Acquisitions!

Did you get the Hi-Res Barbatos before? I like this kit but was worried about nubs? Wonder if they took the care to hide or undergate all the nubs?
  14. Sticky: Re: The Airbrush question thread. Ask questions here and not in a new thread.

Doubt it given the price. All you would get is probably just the hand piece. Kinda pointless as anyone who already have a compressor setup would probably already have an airbrush and paint.

Yea, I think that's just the Xmas rush so they may not get enough to fill all the orders. I guess they don't know their allocation quantity yet unlike HLJ or HobbySearch. Long as you're not counting...

Or metal BB pellet for small/tight space, also test you adhesive on some extra vinyl to make sure they don't eat into or deform the vinyl first (Elmer's white tends to be fairly safe).

Re: Question about my 00 seven sword kit.

Did you use enamel thinner for clean up, They will make plastic brittle. Use lighter fluid instead or do a gross coat before panel lining.

  20. Sticky: Re: The Airbrush question thread. Ask questions here and not in a new thread.

Ah, forgot Vellejo as I've never use them. I do remember that they do have a line that's formulated for airbrush so you won't need to thin but if you ever use Tamiya or Mr. Color, then you have to...

That's way too soon. Adhesion may also be a problem if you handled the parts a lot in warm weather and your fingers are oily, sweaty. I usually wash my parts after cutting them off and sanding the nub...
  23. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

Just a reminder that if you mix your own color, always get some empty bottles and mix more than you need as it will be hard to get it to the same shade if you have to mix more later.
  24. Sticky: Re: The Airbrush question thread. Ask questions here and not in a new thread.

Yees, use the spoon for test. After a few mix, you'll get the hang of it and know when you have it thin right.
  25. Sticky: Re: Paint/Topcoat Thread. This is where to ask questions. NOT new threads.

All the color and mix you see in the color chart in most of the Japanese kits are Mr. Color lacquer paints although some of the new kits have also started to list their aqueous.
