I did not want to clogg everything up by posting a bunch of wip threads so this is were all my new projects will be. Up next will be Mg Heavyarms EW. I've been trying to figure out if i want to preshade and highlight. On one hand i like the clean look on the other a kit having depth looks good too. Oh well i'm sure i will figure it out either way. I do know the orange, yellow and red are going away.

Okay i haven't been able to post for awhile, but i have made some progress i figured i would share a peek at what i got so far. Still have alot of work to do before he is complete but most of the armor pieces are done waiting on some alclad i ordered for the weapons. Should hopefully be done in a week or so. Didn't like the orange and red so much so i went with more of a movie look

Thank you, he is small but seems to be as much work as my Sinanju. The paint i ordered is for the weapons so heavyarms himself should be done Monday or Tuesday. I'm doing the backpack and the rest of the legs today. I finished the head last nite.

On to my next project. I started unboxing Mg The O this morning to start cutting pieces off and getting ready for the whole process. Really nervous with this kit it is one thing to get a nice paint finish with a part the size of my fingernail but this kit is big. With each kit i do i try to improve and make it better than the last hope this kit will come out that way. I have a lot of planning to do still not sure of a color scheme as of yet. Any ideas would be welcome along with any tips for the hand painting that will have to be done on this kit. For my first picture, well you get the box and parts.

I got all the main colors nailed down and most of the detail colors. So i should start priming and laying down a base coat this week end, have to make a run to the hobby shop to stock up on more primer and paint for this monster.

ok so i today i was able to find some time to put down some base coat on the armor on one leg. This build is taking forever. The gloss black is enamel for my stainless i am laying down for the inner frame. It is my first time airbrushing it so i am taking my time.

Not a major update but i'm happy just to have an update. I was able to get the inner frame of the right leg all painted just need to seal the paint and detail some pieces. This weekend i should be painting the armor for the leg. I'm moving slow because of all the different kind of paint i'm using on this build and tring not to mess up.

For the hoses i used Alclad II Chrome and for the inner frame i am using model masters buffering stainless steel. So far every thing is coming out nice, hope it stays that way.

jayhat100
September 8, 2012, 9:12 PM
So i got some of the armor painted it was my first time shading, it came out a little darker than i wanted but it can be fixed. would of had more but had an epic fail on priming today and i'm having to sand it all down and re-prime. oh well.

Thank you, the cables are really chrome it is funny how alclad works with different light, ya i'm only flat coating the armor. I've tried different clear coats on the model masters metal paints and the best thing to use is there sealer.

It really is a pretty simple build, It is just taking along time because it is the first time shading a kit and the pieces being so big it takes me a long time just to get things half way decent. Still need alot of pratice, and also used many different color than i usually do.

Okay so i been burnt out, But i finially got up some motivation to finish this thing it has been almost 3 months but i am almost done. The mobile suite its self is finished and the beam rife is painted clear coated and ready for decals and some detail work. The first coat is on the beam sabers so i should be rapped up this weekend with everything. So here is some pictures of the ms and what i have done on the weapons so far and a size comparison. This thing is almost as big as some of my 12" figures. I did however suffer a loss of a fingure so The O is handicapped. Oh well.

Thanks man. I used some mm blazing black on the main body of the thurster, then used alclad chrome on the inside and the outer rim. I got some alclad hot metal sepia by mistake so i misted that on the edge of the inside and out then put some clear red in the center. it sounds like alot but it wasn't to bad.

Thanks guys it means alot. Not much done on the hobby room it is going to take a good couple of days to unpack everything and put everything where it needs to go and then change my mind and do it all over again. But GN-X on the other hand is still moving forward took some picture of the head and torso inner frame all put together, hope to get the armor done but wedding anniversury wife might have something to say about that.

Thanks walker lucky for me school is getting ready to end and my new job doesn't require me to work all day and sit at a computer all night and i got my airbrush back from badger so it should move along now. @ Dlinker, I try to put a sealer on the inner frame and be careful putting it together im not a big test fitter so i don't handle it all that much so it keeps it pretty safe.

Just depends on what paint im using. Either a clear coat or model masters makes a sealer for there metalizers and so far it has worked on regular alclads.

Have you ever tried to put the inner frame together and paint it as a whole instead individual parts?

I never really tried i would be worried about getting the areas that you see when the part is moved. i do put certain pieace together to avoid color difference. I think squee paints is inner frames together he may know better than me. and looking fowarding to you firing up your airbrush you may never turn back.

With the colors put together, it's giving me that morning vibe. As if these are the colors the suit has when it wakes up in the morning, before going out and kicking ass, haha.

That's a unique effect with the light blue shading.

Just doing a quick build before I start on mg delta plus. I have most of the kit cut and cleaned already. I don't have anything planned for this kit, it was the prize I got from plamocon. I torn between a custom color scheme or sticking close to the colors it is supposed to be. Well I guess I will show the kit now.

I have only built one other highgrade the hard part is doing the inner-frame is my favorite part and there is not much of one on this kit, but so far it has been a pretty good build on the test fits.

My vote is for the pearl white and that's because a steel-painted frame is becoming a common sight. Not that it doesn't look great, but a pearl white frame sounds more interesting and unique.

thwalker13
September 5, 2013, 7:40 AM
I think a pearl white frame would be really cool. It'd be different and unique. The thought kinda made me think that it would give the feel that the frame was made of bone.

I'm another fan of the pearl white idea. I like using pearl white for white parts of the suit armor but I'd never thought of using it for the inner frame.
