View Full Version : MG Sinanju

February 20, 2012, 6:37 PM
It is my first time posting so i thought i would share my what i'm working on. I got mg sinanju for christmas this year and decided he would be my first time painting a model. I've built about four gundams before him and really enjoy it. I started on the shield. I will more than likely be a long build since i have a lot to learn in the painting process. It will post pictures of my progress.2402240324042405

Good choice on the paint colors, I can't wait to see the finished project, and I love the metallic look you're going for.
Also, welcome to the forums!

Good idea with the spoons! It's got curves and straight angles. You can see how the paint reacts in the light in the different angles.

Thank you and nice to meet you. I wanted to mix between metallic and non-metallic colors. I hope everything comes out okay. Still looking for a good color for his frame.

Be careful when painting the frame that you don't paint the ends of ball joints or into holes for joints to slide into. If the paint gets on these parts it can make it nearly impossible to put the pieces together later.

Thanks for the tip. I have done some research and know he goes together tight. I plan usein a lot of masking tape. I should have picked an easier kit to start because from what I have read the decals alone are a nightmare.

Well got some priming on the head done tonight and also got the foot ready for priming. Hopefully i will get most of the legs done this weekend, should be able to post some more pics. on sunday.

So i got some priming done to day it looks like the whole kit, but it is only the right leg. Also got the head together (minus clear coat). Should be doing color tomorrow. Is it normal to have already used two cans to tamaiya fine primer. I primed the shield, head, and right leg, and some frame parts.245724582459

2480248124822483Well got some more work on the painting done. It is a process that is for sure. I fit some of the leg together minus the black and gold trim. I still have to paint some gloss black on it and wash it. It is top coated, just have to apply decals and retop coat.

The metal flake you're using for the red is looking really good. Great job so far.

It is the testers wet look clear. I will have to sand down and start over on the clear coat.
