What is SD Gundam G Gen Overworld?
SD Gundam G Gen Overworld is a 2D strategy RPG thatís somewhat similar to Super Robot Wars and Fire Emblem in terms of gameplay. In this game, you control giant robots known as mobile suits and warships as you fight through scenarios based on events from the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series and manga, as well as a secondary narrative that ties together Overworld and its predecessor, G Gen World.
Why translate this?
Up until 2016, there were few newer Gundam games translated into English, and almost all of them were Dynasty Warriors: Gundam/Gundam Musou titles. While attempts were made to translate both World and Overworld at release, they failed due to technical complications that could not be overcome at the time.
Then, in June 2014, the project was revived by izzul95 on GBATemp, who managed to access many of the text files required to pull off a translation. What followed was a roughly 2 and a half year effort to translate thousands of words and decipher many of the complexities of the gameís programming, as seen in our translation showcase video:

High Quality Textures for PPSSPP 1.3+:

Unpack the contents of "NPJH50681.zip" into the "[PPSSPP dir]\memstick\PSP\Textures\" directory, if the "Textures" directory doesn't exist, you need to create it manually.
Make sure texture replacing is enabled in PPSSPP (should be on by default). It is in Settings->Tools->Developer Tools->Replace Textures

NOTE: PPSSPP savestates are incompatible between non-patched and patched versions. Use normal, in-game saves before patching.
Alternative Font
If you're not a fan of the base font you can use a, in my opinion, much better looking font found here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/3ohb4rfy2233w7b/font.zip
Install it in \ppsspp\flash0\font\ folder and you'll be good to go.

Q Is all the text in the game in English?
A: No, thereís a huge in-game database full of facts about mobile suits, ships, and characters that hasnít been translated, because itís simply too huge for our translators and editors to handle it. All the other text youíre likely to encounter has been translated into English though.
Q: Why should I play this when G Gen Genesis exists?
A: This is the only G Generation game thatís in English and has material from the Alternate Universe shows like Wing, G Gundam, SEED, and 00. G Gen Genesis only features Universal Century units, with the exception of a DLC unit or two and the G Gen original units.
Q: Are there any bugs weíre likely to see?
A: There are probably going to be typos, because the project has essentially been running with one editor (CleanSweep) working on dozens of files for 90+% of its length. There is also a persistent display error caused by PPSSPP removing Sonyís PSP font from its files Ė Turn A Gundamís name in game will appear as ď_ Gundam.Ē To fix this, download this file (http://www.mediafire.com/file/3ohb4rfy2233w7b/font.zip) and install it in \ppsspp\flash0\font.
Q: Are there CWCheat codes? This game is super grindy!
A: You better believe there are. Theyíll be included in a post below this one.
Q: How come some things look way nicer with the various graphics patches, and others donít?
A: The graphics patches pulled assets from console versions of prior games, which were made to a higher quality standard than anything thatís exclusive to Overworld. Since Overworld is a PSP game, lots of graphical sacrifices were made to make sure the game fit onto a UMD.
Q: How do I get custom background music to work?
A: For PSP users, follow this guide: http://www.ggenoverworld.com/index.php?title=Custom_BGM_Guide
A2: For PPSSPP users, try creating a /MUSIC/ folder inside the memstick directory, then create an OVERWORLD folder inside the music folder, before using the in-game Custom BGM function.
