Hey all!

Decided to start a completed build thread here. I've posted separate threads in the past of my completed builds but decided to just having a running thread like most people. So to start off fresh here's my completed battle damaged MG EZ-8!

It's been a while since I've posted a completed build here! Well I've been hard at work transforming my cats, Casper and Nerf, into Hi-Mock customs and I'm finally done! I'll let you guess which one is Casper and which one is Nerf! Enjoy! :D

Getting this guy to balance on an action base was "fun." This guy really holds up and I made a video review (linked at the bottom) covering what makes this guy great. He required some painting though (Those gold parts definitely didn't come gold) Enjoy! Now my MG G Gundam collection is complete!

Hey all! Finished up my latest custom yesterday which I'm calling the Gundam MKII Prototype Ver.

This is my own take on a prototype color scheme for the MKII in which I was considering what a color scheme would look like that would help engineers assemble the mobile suit. Usually prototypes are printed in bright neon colors to make different parts easily identifiable. Now I wasn't going to go neon on this kit but I did want brighter colors from the typical in universe "prototype" color schemes so I knew I wanted orange and white.

I decided to add gray for a bit of a real grade feel and blue because I needed a final color that would match well with orange. Since blue is the complementary color of orange, I thought it would fit well.

I also chose to give an orange stripe to assemblies on the left side of the suit because in most engineering drawings for assemblies (especially ones that are symmetrical) parts are usually marked in some way letting the engineer know the difference between a left and right part. In this case, the orange stripe means it belongs on the left side of the MS :)

I also made a video going over the project as a whole at the end of the pics here but overall I am very pleased with the end result.

Thanks! Yeah I want to get into printing my own waterslides because the only thing really holding me back is having to wait for them through Samuel for specific decals :)

And after doing the chipping I really thought to myself: "I should've added some brown or grays to help break it up" but by then I had already topcoated the top half and decided to just keep black for consistency. I plan to really improve on the chipping with my next build!

No I usually only do dioramas at 1/144 scale. It's just the scale I feel more comfortable getting other elements scaled correctly for dioramas.

I impulse bought the RG Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina (say that 5 times fast)

Decided just to do a snap build on this guy with no decals. It a cool kit, and definitely a far better RG experience than the last one I built (the Red Frame.) Even though I generally hate this design, I wanted to see how the gloss coated plastic mixed with the different colors. It turned out pretty great! And I've warmed up to the designed ever so slightly :P but just slightly.

And I can't deny it was absolute joy to pose. Those wings work really well!

I never understood that suit, that is till I read the manga. Those are not wings, they are a type of guillotine! those curved parts on the ends are blades that cut off the heads of GMs!! How cool is that, and the left arm is actually from the Blitz gundam from Seed so it has stealth.

I'm gonna be starting a pretty large build soon, so in the meantime I'll post some of my older work that I hadn't posted before.

So first up is an HG G-Saviour I did a while back. It was my second fully painted kit that I airbrushed and did some detail painting here and there. The panel lining is pretty sloppy due to me neglecting to put a gloss coat over the base coat of paint. Still, I was really pleased on how it came out because I love the G-Saviour design even if the movie surrounding it was a mess.

But the kit certainly isn't!

Finally completed my birthday gift from last year! The MG Hi-Nu Gundam!

I much prefer the look and proportions of this kit over the Ver. Ka. I should've hunted down the waterslides, but I think the dry transfers that came with this are good. I just want more warning labels.

I repainted the silver to a more proper metallic color and painted the eyes and cameras. I didn't do anything with the beam rifle because it is absolutely UGLY.

Enjoy! and there's a video review at the end in case anyone's interested.

It really all comes down to lighting and composition. I'm a film/photography minor so I had a lot of practice and experience from college and some small project with friends.

I would google things like 3 point lighting, rule-of-thirds, and general composition since it would take an extensive write up that probably already exists to explain all this.

All these were taken with an iPhone 7.

Ain't that the truth. I have some (amateur) photos I took of static aircraft at a museum and my best shots were ones where I had the best lighting.

Hey guys! So I'm finally done with my MG Perfect Gundam and I think he came out great!

I used the following colors: Tamiya british green, bright orange, italian red, german grey, gunmetal, racing white, and Testor's diamond dust for the thrusters.

I was going for a more lightly weathered look which I think came out pretty nice, but some paint here and there is a tad too thick.

I also wanted to try some texture differentiation in the finish so I painted the side canisters and backpack tank as if they were explosive red barrels from something like Crysis or HL2 and gave them a high gloss coat. I'm really pleased with them! But please let me know what you think! I always appreciate good feedback :D

I think the back canister on the back looks so much like a fuel tank and the small side canisters don't (to me). It's hard to put my finger on why but it might be if the cylinder part was red and triangle shape on the sides was painted white they might look a little more canister like. I hope that makes some sense and it ready is only one small part of a nicely put together MS and one that I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

^I Think its that the red is very similar to the red on the stomach. It kind of looks like its connected.

Chipping looks great, and the new colors look much better than the toyish normal colors on the heavy armor. I've said this in the past on some of your other builds, the sticker decals are very distracting and take you out of the work imo. Water slides are pretty cheap and easy to use. The hard edge of those stickers catches your weathering materials and really make them show.

ugh I know >.< I forgot to trim that particular sticker on the leg. Honestly I didn't expect to put as much work as I did into this so I didn't order waterslides in advance and I'm a bit impatient when it comes to waiting for decals especially if the kits already comes with some some sort of decal. I know I'm making excuses here! Maybe I should look into how to print my own waterslides so I don't have to wait on people like SamuelDecal or otherwise.

Fortunately for my 1/100 Dynames, I've already got the waterslides that I ordered months ago from Samuel since I plan to paint that.

Completed my P-Bandai MG Hazel Custom! I love the look of this MS and really wish it was a regular release for those who can't get their hands on it.

Hopefully Squee-senpai will notice that I used waterslides this time around :P They're from the MG Sandrock EW decal set since this kit comes with an absolutely pathetic decal sheet.

I wanted to tone down the weathering a bit because I'm working harder to achieve NAOKI levels of subtlety, and I think I got closer but I can definitely do better!

That'll be the goal I'll be working towards! In the mean time enjoy!

Completed my second commission the other day! The 1/100 Barbatos Lupus Rex Final Battle Ver.

This took a lot of time (mostly due to the weather being shit for top coating) but I also spent a lot of time detail painting.

I repainted the yellow with Testors Inca Gold and did the fingers by masking. Thank god I only had to do one because it was a pain to cut the tape around the small inner parts of the hand!

As for the axe, I used a magnet to attach it so it's a removable accessory. I also added a longer wire. 14 gauge for anyone wondering about the size.

Let me know what you all think!

That is mighty impressive. What method of weathering did you use to achieve the flaked edge look? Hairspray?

Nah just a sponge and black paint. Only the gold is painted. The rest is just top coated plastic.

Wow. That's even more impressive. Dumb question, but what type of sponge?

A sponge sponge? idk lol it was just from a variety pack of sponges I got from Michael's

It was one that was a little more dense. It definitely wasn't like a dish sponge.

Ok. Yea....i know odd question haha. I've tried using sponges I purchased from Wal-Mart and the results were poor, generally. Umm.... they were dish sponges though lol. Trial and error. Seeing your results, I'm going to have to check michaels for sponges ha.

Totally personnel but im not that keen on it, the axe and the weathering looks good i just don't think the damage looks convincing. I think the fact that i don't really like the MS don't help.

Keep up the good work and its cool your getting to do commissions.

To be honest, I hate the Lupus Rex as well. Probably my least favorite Gundam out there. And also if this were for my own personal collection, I would've done the damage differently to be a bit more realistic.

While discussing with the customer, I asked if he wanted it more anime accurate or realistic and he wanted it to lean towards more anime-esque with some realism. After I did the head and torso, he said he was pleased so I kind of continued that theme throughout.

Finished this HG Schwalbe Graze recently for a giveaway on my youtube channel. I'm pleased with the kit and the way it came out (especially the legs.)

there were a few spots I missed and I really should have gone back and fixed them (for example the inside of the lower legs and small knee armor.)

Looking back I also should have painted the frame (it's just the plastic dry brushed.) I'm also not sure how I feel about the weathering. It looks fine but it didn't come out exactly how I wanted it to witha multi-layered feel. I think I'll have to try it again, but use a fine tip brush to deliberately define chips.

But other than that I think it came out good.

Completed this custom Io Frame Shiden that I'm calling the Io Frame Shiden Half Cannon. I'm really pleased with how it came out and didn't really talk much about it (I just wanted to take a break from social media and build a kit for myself hehe)

The cannon is from the HG Grimgerde. The colors I used were Vallejo Olive Green, Yellow Olive, Burnt Umber, and Tamiya Gunmetal. After painting I did some dry brushing of silver and some streaking with a fan brush and watered down light brown.

The idea behind the weather was that this suit has been trudging around the forest while it was raining for the past couple days and this is how it looks after a day of no rain - kind of like how a car would look in the same situation. I went a little heavier with the streaking at the legs because as the water trickles down, it's gonna bring more crap and junk with it and it would build up more towards the bottom.

There are some tonal differences in the paint finish (I still have a lot to improve on) but overall, I think I did well. Please let me know what you all think!
