Was with my family on vacation in Myrtle Beach this week and on our way home I decided to surprise my wife and son with a detour to the Battleship NC. My son only being 2 went nuts when we got there, my wife was less keen on the idea lol. It was 95 degrees out and while me and my son were having the time of our lives sweating to death below deck my wife was having issues with it being hot and being in tight confined spaces. I tried to take as many pictures as I could but I was limited by the fact my pissy wife and my son trying to get into every possible dangerous situation possible

Nice. A few years ago, the Port of Los Angeles had acquired its own battleship: BB-61, the USS Iowa.

Can you just imagine what it was like at sea, under battle conditions! Wow you think it's hot and confined at port on a nice calm day.......
Those men were tough to live and work on those old ships.

USS Alabama was a blast to look at. And shes a beaut...not to mention being able to sit on thos AA Quad Guns was a blast when I did it :P...however, NOTHING Was awesome compared to walking though the USS Drum

btw...i've never seen those white covers on the guns before on the Alabama. does that mean the Carolina is still active?

No, BB-55 was struck from the Naval register on June 1st, 1960. She is a museum ship now and isn't capable of going out to sea without a major refit.

I will state that it isn't out of the realm of possibility to recall her to battle if needed, but Mighty Mo or Iowa would be better choices to be recalled to action.

The Tampion is just to protect the barrels of the guns. Likely the reason for Alabama not having them was an aesthetic choice or they were just taken off, or Ally had plug Tampions.

Was North Carolina always painted in dazzle? I swear I have see images of her with gray paint.

Unless you have a wacky Commander in charge and the aliens are going to destroy Hawaii..... I saw that documentary. Hollywood would never lie, just like the internet!

Depends on the camo paint it was using, if you google most ships wire several different camo paints during the war
