Hiya - I've been snapping gunpla for a while now, but I only recently started getting into full up paint jobs. I'd really appreciate some tips and feedback - it's easy to overlook your own mistakes! I'm planning on having a few images of my most recent build, and just one with an album link for older ones.

1:144 Guncannon II (MSV, 1984)

Just working through the backlog lol

0082: After War part 1
1:144 Type 61 tank diorama

My first diorama! Inspired by a picture of the Loboc River in the Philippines and a desire to rust something :)

1:144 GM Cannon (Zeta Gundam issue, 1985)

This was probably the most work I've had to put into a model yet to get it where I want it, in terms of looking decent. I also had to make the base just so it could hold it's pose!

My first foray into Alclad. I'm pretty satisfied with how it came out, although once I finished I started noticing all the places I didn't fill properly or sand down enough.

Sorry for the poor photos - I was still getting the hang of taking model photos back in 2012. I've since traded this guy out for another kit, but I'm really pleased with how it came out

Damn spiffy.

May 27, 2016, 9:51 PM
Thanks! While there are things I'd probably do differently now, I'm still pretty happy with how they came out.

This was my first real full up paint job, all with Gundam markers. The camo was freehand with the Gundam weathering markers. It was also my first big custom, with additional fuel tanks and lines, bonus missile launchers and a large articulated booster plate in the rear. I made this back in 2008 or so.

I would say now you need to start showing of your work in some great poses and pictures taken useing good lights and a back screen. You got some nice work, so show it off.

June 3, 2016, 1:52 PM
Thanks! I've been planning on making a photo booth area in my workshop - although I've been saying that for a while now. Time to actually get off my duff and do it, I suppose!

June 3, 2016, 6:31 PM
Looks damn spiffy.

June 7, 2016, 9:08 PM
Wow Scorn, thats a amazing kits!!!!!

This first one is very good. Metallic coloras are amazing!!!!

June 10, 2016, 3:43 PM
Thanks! The DX is one of my favorite kits, and I'm really happy with how it came out.

June 10, 2016, 4:43 PM
How was the Super Custom to build? I keep looking at the kit but not buying for some reason.

June 10, 2016, 11:51 PM
Really straightforward - there aren't too many annoying seams, and you get about 2 kits worth of parts (since it's based on the Zaku II F2 which is based on the Zaku II, which means lots of bonus parts in the box). The missiles were annoying to paint, but overall a really solid kit.

Nice work Scorn, I love the MG GM most of all I think

October 25, 2016, 11:17 PM
Thanks! Which one do you mean by the MG GM? I've got two that are RX-79[G] based, but none are technically GM based :)

That one

Another one I'll call done! HG GM, hand painted and cannon added. Very light weathering, but tried for some muzzle burn and metal heating on the guns. Enjoy!

December 1, 2017, 2:04 PM
Another one done! Well, part of a dio, but the model itself is done!

Just checking the depth...

December 7, 2017, 6:19 AM
An epic collection, man. Very nice job on the DX, the color scheme came out nicely. Well done, sir!

December 14, 2017, 5:09 PM
We need fire support! Guntank done. Like my other recent completed builds, this was hand-painted and weather. I experimented with some different weathering techniques and wash techniques, and I think it came out pretty well.

Looks great the track's are very nice.

December 16, 2017, 7:57 AM
Thanks! I spent a while trying to figure out how to do them lol Finally settled on the same base coat as the wheels, then an all over wash of gloss brown. Then on the outside a wash of Vallejo Black, wiped down after a minute. The inside got a double wash of black, left to dry.

Vintage 1:144 GM Cannon! I decided to go with the North American Front type, and I like the outcome. Plenty to improve on for the next one, but it's a pretty solid start. I wanted a more dynamic pose than "just kinda standing there", so I had to build a base for it to stay on! And, since I use most of my kits for skirmish wargaming, it's technically the first miniature I've properly based :P

0082: After War part 1

The scene:
The remains of a EFGF tank, poised on the edge of the river where it caught a burst from a Zaku machine gun years ago. Slowly rusting away, forgotten, like the reasons for war.

And its done! 1/144 scale (12 mm) Type 61 tank diorama, about 2 months worth of lunch breaks. For my first diorama, it went pretty well, I think! I was inspired by a picture of the Loboc river in the Philippines, and I really wanted to rust something up.

Thanks! I put a lot of work into it, and I'm really happy with how it came out.

May 14, 2018, 1:38 PM
That looks great! I really like how the ripples came out with the water.

May 14, 2018, 3:42 PM
Good job, over all I really like this one. The water, tank and background trees are great, just not that keen on the palm trees.

When you doing your next dio?

May 16, 2018, 11:12 AM
Thanks! Considering the time I had to spend on getting the water flat, I'm glad it came out well :) The palms are there because of the inspiration photo, and someone from the region said it reminded him of his home, so I'll take it! Next time I'll work on making my own instead of buying them, but I was really getting done with it lol

I've got a few small projects queued up, but part two of this dio will be a Zaku II Kai, crashed into the side of a cliff on the other side of the river. So probably not for a few months but more land sculpting in addition to the water.

COMPLETED: 1/144 RX-77-4 Guncannon II (MSV, 1984). Hand painted, primer to top coats.

Done! Decals took forever to loosen, but pretty nice without a lot of extra film. More poseable and stable than the GM Cannon, it's a surprising kit for someone used to modern HG kits. I appreciate the older proportions, although I feel like there are some obvious improvements they could have made, even taking 80's manufacturing tech into account. Still, may see if I can find another to mod into the '77-3.
