Hey everyone! Gunpla Beginner here since September of last year. 9 Builds so far. I'm going to post them according to build number. Hope you guys like them and thanks for viewing.

17054

This is the very first build. I rushed building this guy out of excitement and I wish I took my time. Lots of nubmarks and got lazy and didn't put all the decals. I also ruined some dry rub decals. Will post more.

Skipping build 3 because it's just a simple HGUC Z'gok.

Build 4 is with better tools. Currently re-doing this one and trying to work on removing seamline without painting.

Build 5 is where I started to take my time. Still a WIP and planning to re-do it again so I can finally do the topcoat.

Cool builds, looking forward to see the rest

I gotta say, you got a good eye for action poses/framing and photography - what gear are you using if you dont mind my asking?

Thanks, man! I really appreciate it. I think that's how I get away with straight builds haha!

My gear is a Canon 7D with occasional use of 430EX flash. Sigma DC 17-70 or kit EFS 18-135 for the lens.

Used it mostly on architecture and landscape before then I stopped using it. Building brought back my interest in photography after awhile and I believe I'm taking better photos than before because of it.

Build 6 I consider done. Although I haven't learned how to get rid of seamlines when I did this build. Pretty happy with the results, though. I used Sharpie oil based paint pens for the basic touch ups.

Well I'd say its more then just the posing and framing, the models themselves are very clean and look good.

Sweet camera gear! A little jealous lol Curious as to what your usual settings are (iso, exposure, focal length). I think I take okay pictures but i'm always looking for good reference points. I'm currently running a t2i (lol) with the stock lens, and then i have a small collection of prime lenses, up to 50mm.

Do you use natural lighting, or a light box?

Thank you again! I usually do Manual setting and I play around with the exposure a bit. I've used my prime before but I didn't like how it can only do a limited amount of distance from the subject (I like to move around and get really close).

I did a homemade light box but doesn't use it much. I usually use 2 adjustable lamps with different tones with lights from the room. ISO around 250-600.

Play around with your camera more. Even digital rebels these days can take amazing photos.

Build 7 is just a simple build. Still don't know what to do with this one so I'm leaving it like this for now.

Build 8 is HGUC Zaku 2 FZ from war in the pocket. This one was a fun build. Did alot of touch ups and started using cement for the first time haha. Also tried removing seamlines but I still need more practice. Used matte top coat to finish it off.

Thanks for those tips! I can already see that a problem was too little light, as I was running ISO 800-1600, and that was with exposure all the way up and the shutter very low. I had bought one of those cheap $50 lightbox setups from amazon, and while I had taken a few really good pics with it, i still think its lacking... I'll have to play around with the setup some more.

Build 8 and 9 are looking very nice! I swear, you're the guy bandai hires for the box photos, right? That zaku 2 is sexy af

Thank you very much! Lol I would quit my job in a heartbeat if I can get hired taking photos of model kits! Sadly I'm not a pro I just like to play and waste alot of time with my camera haha!

Forgot to mention to try using manual focus on your lens. You can get better results this way. If you're planning to invest on your camera get the Sigma lens I mentioned, used it on my XTi before and it was pretty impressive. Tripod is helpful. Flash is good but not that important.
