It's a super-g resin model conversion not recast

Super G is a recast company. The original resin conversion kit is by GMG. I just noticed the white background box on your picture. Oh well. I thought it was an original. Super G does a great job, i was just excited to see the initial resin quality.

How can you tell the one on ebay is a recast?

It says so in the item description.

Because its by Super G. The original company is GMG. They designed the kit. Super g or it's ebay seller gk hobby does not make any original kits. They take existing resin kits and make recasts of them. Unlike plastic kits, these aren't really considered knock offs as most resin companies only do one initial run of a kit, so the only way to get a copy is to get it from a recaster.

Is this a bad kit by super g? Wasn't cheap either

Noooo, not at all. My initial disappointment isn't that it's a recast, i buy a bunch of kits from that seller/super g, it was that it wasn't an original. I wanted to see how that resin looks. lol

Super G is one of the better recast companies.

I take it original resin casts are like holy grails of the modeling world?

I can take pics when I get home and post them

I guess they're kind of like holy grails. The gmg kit was only available for a limited run. But there's nothing wrong with recasts, they just require a bit more work. The major benefit of getting an original is that they are about as good as you're gonna get for the mold. Recasts often mean that the parts are a bit smaller and can sometimes have gaps between part fitting. But it's resin so you'd probably end up fixing that anyway, even on an original. It's just more work.
