When the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime was aired back in 1979, it was revolutionary in a lot of ways. It might not have started out to revolutionize the model kit industry, but that’s exactly what Bandai did in the early 1980’s when they released kits from the show. They were the first “real robot” kits, that combined high-tech (for the time) model-making with an anime theme on a massive scale.

Along with the various robots and even support vehicles, Bandai issued 1/20 figure kits of some of the main characters. One of these was a 1/20 Sayla Mas (http://wp.me/P2SZML-pv), one of the most important women in the original show. Check out my build of this reissue and let me know what you think.

I wish Bandai made more styrene figure kits: they’re quite simple but a lot of fun to build, as well as being a great exercise in painting!
