Hello all,

I've been doing models for a while now, but I have only been doing the basic stuff (panel lines, painting, coating, etc.). I want to take some of my older kits and add battle damage to them. Where or what would be a good way to start learning how to do this?

I would start on a scrap piece of plastic. I have not attempted any battle damage as of yet, but you should play around with paints and brushes, attempting to get the effect you want. Do you know how to drybrush? Take a brush, dip it into the paint of your choice, then wipe off as much paint as you can off of the brush with a paper towel. Then, run the brush along the plastic. You can create weathered metal or dirt effects this way. You can also take an Exacto Knife, heat up the point of the blade with a candle, or lighter, and then poke the heated metal into the plastic, creating a small divot. You can achieve bullet holes or slash marks with this technique.
