Let me just tell you that I have a strange affliction with Byg-Zam. I freaking love it, probably because of the legs and that it tramples everything. Maybe because it looks like a hamburger. I just can't get enough of it.

I'm actually planning to buy like 5 more of this same kit because I just...

Onward to the build!

JUST LOOK AT IT.

Now, he's got some unsightly cracks here and I just can't be having that.

Byg-Zam please, cover yourself.

So I went with this method: Acetone + Sprue plastic

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l104/ooh_lala_larisa/PW1.jpeg

I emptied out a fingernail polish bottle to store it, anything made of glass will be okay.

First, you'll want to add the sprue.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l104/ooh_lala_larisa/PW2.jpeg

Then add your 100% Acetone.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l104/ooh_lala_larisa/PW3.jpeg

After about 15 minutes it already looks a little melty.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l104/ooh_lala_larisa/PW4.jpeg

After about 1.5 hours.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l104/ooh_lala_larisa/PW5.jpeg

Next day, it is completely melted into a gooey mass.
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l104/ooh_lala_larisa/PW6.jpeg

The Acetone on the polish brush prevented the plastic from attaching to it, so I cut the end of a Q-tip to be able to grab some out of the bottle.

It begins to dry fairly quick but stays soft for a bit of time. I found it was easiest to grab the goo of the plastic and apply with my fingers, it does not stick to skin. It was easier to form it to the shape as close as possible to avoid extensive sanding later on. Use common sense and whatever you feel most comfortable with. This was my first time doing this. (I had only discovered this about an hour before hand haha)

After application.

And sanded down.

Just primed it tonight so awaiting my smoothness results tomorrow, at first glance of wet paint I think I there will be almost nothing to sand but we'll see once it dries!

Phew! that stuff had to stink to high hell! (acetone). I use squadron putty, but it's great to know there are other techniques out there. cool stuff :) Can't wait to see the end of big Zam. Err.. kit completion.

Hahaha, those are some shrewd ideas you've had here.

BTW: Do you prime your kits outside ?

I must say, that Acetone trick is one I've never really seen before and it's incredibly ingenious. Must try soon, darn it...

Ugh, this is what I get for checking this forum at work; now I have to wait until I get out before I can think about attempting it, haha.

Thanks! I'm going to make a video tutorial for it :3

It actually didn't have a smell to me. Cleaning out the fingernail polish that was in the bottle smelled worse.. makes it seem pretty dangerous XD

I primed it in the garage and then promptly brought it inside to cure properly.

I'm really glad I discovered it! I get to recycle my sprues and save money instead of buying putty (etc.). Plus it is really user friendly in my opinion. Only cost me $1.29 to buy the Acetone.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of the coming weekend ;3

Always wanted to try that out, i know MatX has done that before, but it just seems too toxic for me. I'll just stick to lacquer and polyester putties. (get the joke? JUST AS TOXIC lol)

Why didn't you seal the two halves together as well?

I plan too. I'll just show you why I haven't yet.

You have to attach the top part of the legs to the 'hips' before putting the 'buns' (hehe) together.

Also, put the primed pieces together for fun. I should have gotten further tonight but I ended up napping instead (O.O;)

I'm pretty excited with the results of how smooth it turned out! Just for reference here was how it looked before:
